I don't have one because it's on the NJ Ban List |

This is a Standard Products experimental Carbine I picked up a few months ago. The pistol grip and blue finish are original! http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/0/2/2/4/6/0/webimg/305732151_o.jpg http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/0/2/2/4/6/0/webimg/305732332_o.jpg http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/0/2/2/4/6/0/webimg/305732535_o.jpg http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/0/2/2/4/6/0/webimg/305734010_o.jpg http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/0/2/2/4/6/0/webimg/305732167_o.jpg That is really cool and interesting. Do you know the story behind why they modified the stock and blued it? Where they thinking about marketing the M1 Carbine commercially, or was it some executives personal hunting rifle? |
|
Most of the M! contractors made experimental and presentation guns. They are easily identified by the EX or X and a number on the receiver. Most all were blued. Some were made for presentation to company officials and some were possible prototypes for later commercial sale. This gun is all correct with all the parts having the correct manufacture codes including the magazine. It came into the local shop where I bought it for 250.00 a few months ago. They had no idea!

This thread is reminding me of the time I saw a Johnson rifle for sale for a good price a few years back, and didn't buy it.
Now I have to kick myself in the ass some more. Oh well, at least I saw that nice Tanker Garand awhile back and... ...oh shit, I passed on that one too. |

My 2nd M1 is a parts gun built on an old Rockola. I have about 100 bucks in it.

great posts so far! where are you guys getting your .30 carbine ammo? I got lucky and my WalMart gets it occasionally, but it's $25.97 / 50
I know that's still a decent price though... |

I bought 5000 g.i. pulled down cases before the CMP got the carbines in a couple of years ago. As long as remington keeps making the little 110 fmj, I'm sitting pretty with ammo. |

Yeah I'm trying to ignore him too! |

I can roll my own, although more recently, I have bought it when I find it. My local True Value had some WWB .30 Carbine in stock, back in late '07, at $19 or so a box. I bought all they had. The prices went up to $29/box the very next week. Since then, I've been shooting a lot of pistol and .22 LR, so I haven't even dented my stash. |

Very nice rifles all. I really need a Garand and M1 Carbine to round out my collection.

That 1943 Underwood in the repro paratrooper stock in my first post in this thread was bought in the late '80s by my dad for $169 at Woolworth's in the Plymouth Meeting Mall (PA). He gave it to me several years ago and I paid $175 + S&H for the stock. |

I will try to stock up soon, but I've been spending my shooting funds on other purchases lately... |
