Dragged the M1 carbine out to the range the other day, after I found some .30 carbine ammo - hadn't shot it in years. I had forgotten how much fun shooting that little gun is... I thought we could do a "share your M1 Carbine" thread... Fire away!
Inland M1 Carbine (purchased in the 70's by my Grandfather for $20, still have the receipt)  50 yds, iron sights, still accurate!  M1 Carbine thumb, anyone?   with its little brother, 10/22 carbine model - looks like Ruger took a few design cues from the M1...  let's see yours! |

Here is a recently bought Winchester M1 carbine from the Detroit Police Dept they were overpriced but I collect DPD guns so oh well still needs to be cleaned up have not had time.

1943 Underwood in repro M1A1 stock:
1944 Rock Ola with Ultimak, Bushnell RDS, and SF G2 in a VTAC mount. Don't worry, it can be restored to GI in 5 minutes:

Most of the M! contractors made experimental and presentation guns. They are easily identified by the EX or X and a number on the receiver. Most all were blued. Some were made for presentation to company officials and some were possible prototypes for later commercial sale. This gun is all correct with all the parts having the correct manufacture codes including the magazine. It came into the local shop where I bought it for 250.00 a few months ago. They had no idea!

Mine is an Inland made in 1944 and was serviced in Italy as indicated by the FAT 82 cartouche on the stock. This is one of the oft bemoaned Blue Sky Specials, and 100yd accuracy is around 4". I have the magazine pouch on the "wrong" side of the stock because I'm a lefty and it doesn't interfere this way. This little guy took me about 8mon to get running properly. I'd all but given up when a member from the armory forums suggested that I try using high speed recoil springs. I coupled that with some nickle plated brass that was loaded with 14.5gr W296 and it's just about 100% reliable now! |

This thread is reminding me of the time I saw a Johnson rifle for sale for a good price a few years back, and didn't buy it.
Now I have to kick myself in the ass some more. Oh well, at least I saw that nice Tanker Garand awhile back and... ...oh shit, I passed on that one too.

There's my '44 IBM along with my '44 Colt M1911A1. Apart from the usual upgrades (bayo lug barrel band, rotary safety, late mag catch) and the front sight (RIA), it's completely IBM. -Mark |

I bought 5000 g.i. pulled down cases before the CMP got the carbines in a couple of years ago. As long as remington keeps making the little 110 fmj, I'm sitting pretty with ammo. |
