The Daewoo.  I think the Koreans got it right.  Imagion how good this rifle would be now if it had been updated for the last 20 years.

The Koreans have been updating them with RAS and stuff. They're pretty neat.

My vote would go for the M1941 Johnson rifle. I own one and I love it.

I would love to own one, but I can't justify the thousands of dollars it would cost to get one.

Crying shame it never caught on.

That was the first thing I thought of when I read the title. I loved mine, except for the backwards safety. I am thinking of trying to find another, but there are way too many other things on the list ahead of it.

Marlin 880sq (squirrel) in .22LR.

For 200 bucks you got a micro-grooved 22" heavy barrel and a synthetic stock. I own one and that rifle is an absolute tack driver. Easy to work on the trigger too by replacing the spring with a pentel mechanical pencil spring.

Add a bipod, add a pound of weight to the butt and some spray in foam and you are GTG.

Don't know why Marlin discontinued this fine rifle. I only wish they would have offered this exact rifle in .17HMR or .204 Ruger. That would have been sweet.

As a bonus, Marlin magazines work in most of their bolt action .22lr they have made over the past 10 years. I can go from this rifle and use the same magazines in a 25N, 925, etc.

Not mine, but a carbon copy of it:

A friend of mine out in California owns a pretty slick little booger - it's a .22 pistol that, when snapped into the bottom of a nifty wooden sock with a longer barrel, becomes a .22 rifle with a pistol grip.

I want to say it's French made, but I'm not sure. I'd know it if I saw a picture. I wish I could tell you who made it, but I really don't remember. I always thought it was really cool, and I've never seen another one.

A bit off-topic but a handgun I wish S&W still produced is the .38 S&W Terrier.

It was a snub nosed revolver that I think would be perfect for an ordinary woman to conceal carry.

It has minor recoil and, although on the lighter side of the ammo scale, it can still do the job IMHO.

I know a lot of people had issues with the grip size but it fits me quite well.

SIGs with the DAK trigger.
The DAK light revolver-like pull is easy to hit with (like a good PPC revolver), but because of the length of its pull (not the weight), it is much more forgiving of the Rule Three oopsies that plague Glocks.

I also liked the .41 Action Express cartridge.  The .40 S&W made it obsolete, but with the .41AE all you needed to do was change the barrel (because it used the same extractor and ejector as a 9mm).  With the .40, you have to get a whole new gun.  Those gun manufacturers ain't stupid!

I thought this was a thread about guns that never caught on?

SIG is selling the crap out of these to departments all over the country. I just upgraded from a DAO to a DAK a few months ago. Took some getting adjusted to the reset of the DAK, but well worth the trouble.

I sure hope you're right, and they are selling them to PDs.  IMO, they are a much better general-issue-least-common-denominator sidearm than Glocks, which seem to be plagued with leg shots when issued to people who can't quite comprehend that pesky Rule Three.  However, the gun stores around here don't carry DAKs.  Lots of DA/SA SIGs, but darned if I can find any DAKs on the shelves.

I just got a Remington 788 in .243 plus 250 bucks cash for that 700 BDL in .300WMI won at a raffle. Father in law wanted that 700 for an elk hunt next year and I wanted a .243, so it made sense.

The neat thing is that I have a picture of my wife with the deer she killed with it from 1996 when she was 16. Pretty neat.

This 788 was purchased by my father-in-law in 1980 for my wife to use deer hunting. It has 50 rounds through it total. It is near mint condition and still has the original "Redfield 3-9" scope that came on it.

I'll get some pics snapped, but it looks identical to this one right down to the sling:

After you break in the safety so it's not so damn stiff, you can carry in Condition 1 and eliminate that LOOONG DA trigger pull (SA pull is quite nice).  For me thumbing the safety off is as natural as a 1911 or my USP.

Yeah, that plastic holster is
.  Fits the gun perfectly but sure as hell isn't anywhere near comfortable to wear (at least for me).  IWB I use a Passport nylon holster.  Adds almost no thickness.

I carry one of those in 9mm.  Picked it up used for about $300.  Put a few hundred rounds down the pipe without a hiccup yet.  Great little gun.  I put 6 of 15 rounds in the black at 50 yards last weekend using a 92fs mag and adapter.  Not bad for a 3" barrel.
