Quoted: I would love to own one, but I can't justify the thousands of dollars it would cost to get one.Quoted: The Daewoo. I think the Koreans got it right. Imagion how good this rifle would be now if it had been updated for the last 20 years. The Koreans have been updating them with RAS and stuff. They're pretty neat. My vote would go for the M1941 Johnson rifle. I own one and I love it. http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/5323/johnsonn.jpg |

For me, it would be the Browning BDM: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_CbwnjooteyI/SX3wcECSO0I/AAAAAAAAhEs/5AWtKwfK18s/s400/30.jpg I absolutely LOVE this thing. Thin, light, 15-round capacity. My first handgun, purchased new in 1993. Crying shame it never caught on. That was the first thing I thought of when I read the title. I loved mine, except for the backwards safety. I am thinking of trying to find another, but there are way too many other things on the list ahead of it. |

I like it. I used my SW 1006 to get a nice button buck last week, 5 yards. Mine has hogue rubber grips, that wood looks great though...*idea* Boom. Bang-flop. I even recovered the spent casing for reloading 10mm FTW!! |

A standardized large frame AR pattern rifle. I can think of four variants, five if the Knight is included.

A friend of mine out in California owns a pretty slick little booger - it's a .22 pistol that, when snapped into the bottom of a nifty wooden sock with a longer barrel, becomes a .22 rifle with a pistol grip.
I want to say it's French made, but I'm not sure. I'd know it if I saw a picture. I wish I could tell you who made it, but I really don't remember. I always thought it was really cool, and I've never seen another one. Maybe somebody here knows what it is. |

Any gun made by German A Korobov. The guy was a genius, he saw the practicality of bullpup rifles way back in 1946. A shame though that even back then the traditionalists were too alienated by the design. http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/923/1259612776955.jpg http://i49.tinypic.com/m78k0w.jpg Where did you find that info on Korobov designs?...I've been looking for stuff like that for awhile...is that your book? |

Marlin camp carbine in 45 acp. My FIL has one of these (that I'm in line to receive someday ). He's LOVES it, but it is a BITCH to break down for cleaning. ETA: My vote is for the AR-180. I would LOVE to have one, but they seem pretty damned rare nowdays. I read a rumor somewhere that Armalite might start up production again, maybe next year? If that is true, and they can get them out for around $600, I'll buy two. |

Having said that, Ive heard there a complete bitch to diss-assemble and re-assemble. Words fail on how fucking insane it is. I have been trying to reassmeble the trigger assy and have been unsucessful. |

I wish the Remington 788 was still made.
Simple wood stock and a detachable mag in an accurate, light, handy rifle. |

A bit off-topic but a handgun I wish S&W still produced is the .38 S&W Terrier.
It was a snub nosed revolver that I think would be perfect for an ordinary woman to conceal carry. It has minor recoil and, although on the lighter side of the ammo scale, it can still do the job IMHO. http://world.guns.ru/handguns/SW36.JPG (It shoots the old .38 S&W cartridge.) |

Smith & Wesson 547
A 9mm K frame revolver that works without moon clips. |

Colt's Double Eagle, somehow I ended up with all 3 sizes.
I do miss my LAR Grizzly in .45 WinMag...very accurate beast. |

SIGs with the DAK trigger. The DAK light revolver-like pull is easy to hit with (like a good PPC revolver), but because of the length of its pull (not the weight), it is much more forgiving of the Rule Three oopsies that plague Glocks. I also liked the .41 Action Express cartridge. The .40 S&W made it obsolete, but with the .41AE all you needed to do was change the barrel (because it used the same extractor and ejector as a 9mm). With the .40, you have to get a whole new gun. Those gun manufacturers ain't stupid! I thought this was a thread about guns that never caught on? SIG is selling the crap out of these to departments all over the country. I just upgraded from a DAO to a DAK a few months ago. Took some getting adjusted to the reset of the DAK, but well worth the trouble. I sure hope you're right, and they are selling them to PDs. IMO, they are a much better general-issue-least-common-denominator sidearm than Glocks, which seem to be plagued with leg shots when issued to people who can't quite comprehend that pesky Rule Three. However, the gun stores around here don't carry DAKs. Lots of DA/SA SIGs, but darned if I can find any DAKs on the shelves. |

I know a lot of people had issues with the grip size but it fits me quite well. Only thing that's a PITA is the combination of the small slide and heavy spring. Gotta have some practice to get a reliable grip on it to operate. Other than that, I love it. This was the first handgun I ever bought myself. Got it in DAO, never did like the trigger and the back of the rubber grip left me with a blister every time out. Still a good gun so I couldn't justify selling it. Traded it to my father. Now it's his problem. Got the ridiculous looking factory holster for like $1 on clearance. |

After you break in the safety so it's not so damn stiff, you can carry in Condition 1 and eliminate that LOOONG DA trigger pull (SA pull is quite nice). For me thumbing the safety off is as natural as a 1911 or my USP. Yeah, that plastic holster is . Fits the gun perfectly but sure as hell isn't anywhere near comfortable to wear (at least for me). IWB I use a Passport nylon holster. Adds almost no thickness. |

Put a few hundred rounds down the pipe without a hiccup yet. Great little gun. I put 6 of 15 rounds in the black at 50 yards last weekend using a 92fs mag and adapter. Not bad for a 3" barrel. |
