Ok folks, here it is.

What I am proposing is a gift card drive for anyone that wishes to donate.  It may not be much, but it will help the family out significantly... especially if there are any unforeseen costs in the future.  I know that there is a drive starting to get Justin a new 1911, which I think is a marvelous idea, but I also think that we need to step up to provide for the family's immediate needs.

For those of you who do not yet know who Justin is or what this is about, click on this link:  One of our own was shot defending his friends.  It's what the 2nd Amendment is ALL about.

My idea is to allow the family to not worry about such things as groceries for awhile.  This idea came in real handy when my own family went through a crisis recently.

Everyone on the planet either has a Wal-Mart close by or can go online and visit Wal-Mart's website.  In Jefferson City, there is a Wal-Mart Supercenter.  It has a full grocery store inside it for those of you who have not been to a Supercenter.

At any rate, I would like to have an online (or by mail) Wal-Mart gift card drive.  If you are willing to part with $5 to $10, to help the family, follow the below link.  I am not keen on putting Justin's address out there, so if you wish to participate, send me either an IM or and email and you can ship the card to me.  I will then send a bundle pack to him with the cards in them.

I have already spoken with his Dad and he was touched by this.  It may not be much, but I think it is the best that our community can do with filling in an immediate need at the moment, especially since we are all spread out so far.  These will work out well if one of the family helpers needs to make a grocery run, the family could just flip a couple cards from us to cover it.  It's one less headache for his wife to worry about.

The link to the gift cards will also show you that one can purchase restaurant cards so they can order out.  Beware, there is no Outback or Cracker Barrel in Jeff City.

So, drop me a line, I'll respond with my address, and ship the card to me.  Be sure to include your name (or tag line if you prefer), so that I can keep a list of all those that participate.

For everyone’s information, yesterday and today I have received the first batch of cards in the mail.  I will be forwarding them on to the family tomorrow.  The nice thing, which actually surprised me a little, is that some people have opted to donate in other ways other than just gift cards.  You know who you are and I thank you for that.  It will give Justin and the family options in how they think best to use the donation.
