Yeah, I missed the "good one". |

I used to work at Verio. Our 100mb/s internal LAN was the slowest link in the building |

How much does it cost you a month? Does it work similar to wireless?
Im asking this cause I will be moving soon and I may not have normal wifi internet access at my new place |
|
DAMN! Cool site. Seen a screenshot of it before on a few forums, but never checked it. |

Sprint is the way to go (Verizon has a 5GB bandwidth limit per month - and they're not shy about killing accounts), if you're going to use it as your primary internet connection. Unlimited service runs $60/mo + some tax. It's a great service, and a godsend if you live out in the boonies. I'd gladly pay $100. I couldn't live out here if this wasn't available (since I work from home). Before EVDO became available in my area, I was actually *very* close to ordering a T1 ($600/mo port + loop). Sprint is actually pretty good about predicting EVDO coverage in your area, so it pays to give them a ring. It's not like 802.11 wireless (what people typically call wifi). |

I have EVDO rev A. It is pretty decent.
Warning: Sprint is capping bandwidth at 5GB a month. Thereafter, your bandwidth will be thottled back quite sharply. |

This is me on Comcast. Fastest download yet, I believe and I certainly pay for it. |

It seems to have become a internet-geek, dick swinging contest. |

Why are you here? No one cares. |

Fuck I hadn't heard about this, that is fucking bullshit, they make you sign a contract and then change the terms like that. Guess I will go to the library to download my updates. |

Troy is that a fixed cost per month, or do they charge you by the airtime? I'm thinking of getting that kind of setup for my Wife's HP. The place she consults at has no internet connectivity (and they are in a suburb of DC ). |

So you're that guy everyone warns when they post lots of pictures. |

Still listed as unlimited on their website, but there's some |

sweet jesus, what are you running? |

Looks like a university connection. |

Nope, my lab's connection. The University is 30 miles away. |

It's $80/month without a Verizon cell phone, $60/month with a Verizon phone (which I have). Currently listed as "unlimited" online, but the contract you sign states that there is a 5GB limit monthly, beyond which they will charge you X dollars per meg or something. For our business use, we rarely exceed 2-3 GB per month on the card, as most "destinations" we go to have WiFi, but when on the road or at our "shop" in the morning (it's a storage area until I move back into an office), it's vital to have Internet. -Troy |

I've spent the last few minutes reading about this. At this point, it's an unsubstantiated rumor gone wild. I'm concerned obviously, but I've read posts from people who have talked to customer retention and they insist this is purely a rumor. Others have posted "leaked" emails that seem to contradict that. The thing is, nothing is official yet, so I guess we'll wait and see. |

Thanks! We're both on Verizon, and $60/mo doesn't sound bad at all. |
