M-16 rifles missing from Hill Air Force Base
June 5th, 2008 @ 5:02am
(KSL News) Officers at Hill Air Force Base are looking for a man connected to the disappearance of 12 high-powered rifles.

The case in the photo is similar to the rifle case that Hill and local law enforcement officials are trying to determine the whereabouts. Base officials say the M-16 rifles disappeared Tuesday afternoon. They originally believed the guns fell out of a government car but now are looking for a man who may have taken them.

Investigators say someone saw a man loading the rifles into his vehicle. He's described as a heavy-set white man, between 40 and 50 years old, and balding with gray hair.

He was seen driving off in a green or light colored four-door sedan.

If you have information, you should call police or base security at 801-777-1852.

They will catch hime and he is fucked when they do. Couple years ago here in IL a local remodeler was demoing a house and found a real deal rock and roll Thompson in the walls. As a remodeler myself, I would have had to put the Tommy in my truck to transport it to the local authorities for proper destruction

The guy is screwed, but it is interesting that there is more concern about the guy who picked them up, than how the HELL .gov could be careless enough to let them slip away...

Yes, you notice how it's a "high-powered rifle" unless it's a story about the supposedly inadequate 5.56mm NATO ammo, which a whopping 20% of our troops supposedly think is inadequate?  The answer, we're told, is something like the 7.62 NATO M-14.

This is why terms like "high-powered rifle" are stupid.  High-powered compared to what?  A howitzer?  Or a cap gun?

That case has a gasket around the rim to keep out air & water, rifles inside will keep for a very long time if properly prepared.  But its a big fricken case, I think they hold 12 rifles each...

WAIT WAIT WAIT....

REAL "assault weapons" are stolen, and they don't use the term "Dangerous assault weapons of unusual lethality" not ONCE in the story?
Obviously bullshit. They said "high powered rifle" which as we all know, means "Sniper rifle with a scope" ....
but if these were FA M16s it is Unpossible not to use the term "assault" in any valid reporting attempt.
Not to mention they have completely overlooked the shoulder things that go up...
and don't even get me started on the type of ammunition that they fire
ETA: 15,000 rounds per second!!

ETA: THEY HAS FLASH SUPPRESSORS!!!
