I spent four years in Guam, home of the highest per capita consumption of SPAM anywhere in the world.  Denny's even has a SPAM Slam on their menu.

Can't say I ever developed a liking for it though....

My only objection to SPAM was the saltiness.  Now there's low salt SPAM, so I'm happy.

Thumbs UP!  [^]

Yes, I give Spam a big 'thumbs up.! Although, I probably haven't eaten any in the past twenty years or so, my memories of Spam have always been good.

I am certain that lordtrader would also agree!

It's been years since I've had SPAM, but I still remember going on camping trips with my family and having fried SPAM sandwiches.

Haven't decided if that's a tradition I want to introduce my son to or not.  Maybe I'll pick up a can for this weekends camping trip.

If you have read my past posts, you will know that I am a big fan of Spam. I even make Spam sushi. Just like CA rolls, except instead of using crab meat I use Spam. MMMMM Yummy. I also make Spam fried rice, Spam Burgers, Spam omelletes and so on. I have a cookbook titled 1001 Ways to cook Spam.

Thumb up

Thumbs up for me. My cousin dices it up, puts some tomato sauce, pepper, salt, and onions. It tastes pretty good. But if I eat spam, it's mostly fried (almost burnt).

I can eat it, as long as it's fried extra crispy
w/ mustard & american cheese.  I can't say it's
one of my favorites, but I usually take some
on camping trips because it's quick & easy to
fix.

The wife can't stand it...something about all
day fishing trips with her family during her
childhood years.  Spam every Saturday...[puke]

Oh bliss!  Bliss and heaven! Spam is gorgeousness and gorgeousity in a can, when served with hash browns! And with eggiwegs!....... over easy!  (I like to smash them and splash them with habanero!)

What a nice warm feeling all through your guttywuts when served with a strong cup of coffee.

Alright.  You guys convinced me.

I'm gonna pick up a couple of cans for this weekends camping trip.  Makes perfect sense, doesn't have to be refrigerated, easy to pack, easy to cook. Only question now is, what's best to accompany it?

Ranch style beans, Bush's baked beans, chuckwagon style corn, cous-cous with steamed asparagus tips in a light lemon butter sauce?

What do you guys recommend?

Dice potatoes, about 5/8", chop a generous amount of chopped onion, and dice your Spam about the same size as the potatoes.  Fry up the Spam first until the corners are crispy, remove and rinse the pan.  Then add a little oil and a butter and fry up the potatoes and onions until they are well-cokked, add the Spam for a few minutes, serve next to your eggs.

I prefer the "Less Sodium" version of Spam.  The original can be a little much for saltiness for my taste.

White bread and ketchup with Spam. Make Spam burgers. Throw in some of them individual wrapped cheese if you want. Cook Spam over an open fire.

Crackers is also a good accompaniment for Spam. Kinda give you that Hors' deourve feel.

Spam cubed and added to Mac and cheese is another quick hardy meal for those camping trips.

About the only way I'll eat Spam is fried crisp, but my wife is Japanese and absolutely loves it.  When we went to Hawaii she flipped out when she saw Spam musubi (Spam & rice with seaweed) for sale at the counter of the ABC stores there.

Anyway, here's a different one - Rack of Spam
http://www.geocities.com/elindoll88/baths/spam.htm  I haven't tried it (and won't), but for you Spam lovers out there - go for it! (edited to fix the link)

And for your reading pleasure, A collection of Spam haiku ("Spamku")

Grotesque pinkish mass
In a blue can on a shelf
Quivering alone

Like some spongy rock
A granite, my piece of Spam
In sunlight on my plate

Oh Argentina!
Your little tin of meat soars
Above the pampas

The color of Spam
is natural as the sky:
A block of sunrise

Little slab of meat
In a wash of clear jelly
Now I heat the pan

Oh tin of pink meat
I ponder what you may be:
Snout or ear or feet?

In the cool morning
I fry up a slab of Spam
A dog barks next door

Pink tender morsel
Glistening with salty gel
What the hell is it?

Ears, snouts, and innards,
A homogenous mass
Pass another slice

Cube of cold pinkness
Yellow specks of porcine fat
Give me a spork please

Old man seeks doctor
"I eat Spam daily", he says.
Angioplasty

Highly unnatural
The tortured shape of this "food"
A small pink coffin

Slicing your sweet self
Salivating in suspense
Sizzle, sizzle..Spam

Pink beefy temptress
I can no longer remain
Vegetarian

Spam in Alabama is only second to Boston Butt.
I like fried Spam, but GRILLED Spam is even better. Cook slow over charcoal on a Hibachi while camping, serve with rolls or biscuits and homemade Blackberry Jelly. An excellent Southern tradition.
Another favorite I was introduced to on a Bear hunt in Western North Carolina goes like this:
Slice spam into approximately 3/8" inch slices, lay slices on a cookie sheet. Spread yellow mustard evenly across each slice, then sprinkle liberally with brown sugar. Place in oven for about 15 minutes at 325 degrees, then put 2 slices on fresh Old Fashioned bread to make a sandwich. Sounds strange but tastes REAL GOOD! Got my wife to try it,now we eat it all the time. My kid loves it, he usually will eat 2 whole sandwiches.

I only have Spam for breakfast.

Sliced thin, fried just cruchy on both sides (NOT BURNED), Tabasco drizzeled on when it first starts cooking, scrambled eggs, toast, fresh coffee!

It's got to be time for breakfast somewhere!
