OK...some might remember my problems with the XP install. In case you didn't rad the update, the whole problem was that part of the MB is fried. At least enough that the floppy drive won't work.
Well, since I wasn't using that comp anyway, I scavenged all the parts I could (DVD, RAM, HD) that would be useful on the comp I've been using.
I found out that this (good) MB will only accept PC100 RAM in sizes no larger than 256. What would happen if I put in some PC133? Would it damamge the board? Or would the RAM simply run at 100mHz?
When I put on the DVD, the BIOS says it's a DVD, but Windows XP labels it as a CD-ROM. Only the label is wrong...because looking at the drivers, it knows it's a DVD. So, anyone familiar with XP Pro know how to change removable drive labels? There seems to be no "rename" function for them.
And finally...I found I no longer have a DVD Decoder. Can someone reccomend a good free software decoder for me? I've seen several, but which are the best? If I absolutely have to, I'll pay for one. But, I'd rather not.
Thanks!
