Get ready for the final 3 episodes of OreImo Tonight!

So Manami is a manipulative psycho, Kuroneko is regulated to an empty chair and the Kousaka's really were that fucked up. The end.

Yup! That pretty well sums it up. What a dumbass.  It was pretty fun seeing the end with a few thousand other fans, though.
Just got done watching, and I have to say I liked them. Saori's otaku-wagon with the speakers was funny as hell.

Time to get back to the light novel, though.

Airsoft is far more popular in Japan, than it is here, so it wouldn't surprise me if some high schools have clubs devoted to airsoft games.

I don't remember reading anything that said where it started, but it seems like all of the 'high-end' airsoft is from Japan.

We can have guns.  They can't, but they can have airsoft.

So while we have guys who will do a retro build on an AR, trying to get it as close as possible to a Vietnam era M-16 (full-auto capability being the limiting factor on making it exact), or guys who will do a tacticool build with accessories on the rails, they have 'gun otaku' who want airsoft guns that look and feel (as much as possible) like the real thing.  And some of them apparently compete with them, similar to the paintball tournaments that are done here.

Floating somewhere around the internet, there is a picture of a group of Japanese high school students on a commuter train.  One of the guys is carrying a bolt action sniper rifle, and one of the girls is carrying a P90 submachinegun.  Can you imagine the hysteria that would cause in the US?

Ah, yes. Here's where I read it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airsoft Started in Japan, eventually making way to the UK. (Where it is also very popular.)

As for hysteria; they're probably used to seeing weird shit anyway, so they just thought "Eh, another day in Japan..." I have had a deputy Sheriff in my hometown chamber check my M1A SOCOM airsoft gun, even though it had the little orange plastic cap on the end. It was in a small town, and he knew me anyway. Apparently some old lady saw us and didn't like how we were playing war games in the park.

Back to Anime, though. Some show named 'OniAi' was recommended to me after watching Oriemo, so I watched it. It's not too bad. Damn you Sealy for taking me to this website! I'll probably never run out of shit to watch now.

I wasn't sure what to expect from Inu to Hasami wa Tsukaiyou (Dog and Scissors), but the description I had read gave the impression that it would be darker than it actually is.

Started watching it yesterday.  It's got goofy points, silly points, strange points, and they seem to have worked a bit of romance into it.

If there was ever a tsundere it is Aria.  Pretty sure some of the gun stuff was a little silly at times, but it's been a while.  I did enjoy the show though.  I just started reading the first light novel a couple of days ago since I am under the impression that the anime is only part of the story.

For anyone that might have passed over C3 at first glance, you may want to reconsider. This show has taken a radical departure from it's earlier episodes and is no longer "cute girls doing cute airsoft things." It's now more akin to "cute girls suffering irreparable psychological damage" and is quickly starting to resemble some previous GAINAX work you may be familiar with.

Side note, what happens when we bust 100 pages? Will this thread survive?!

I'm not sure what to think about a girl who alternates between wanting a long-haired dachshund to be sexually attracted to her, and attacking the same dachshund with scissors and hanging him from the ceiling.

Poor little dachshund.  He's just a book nerd that wants to be left alone while he reads his books.

Yeah, but most of the crazy anime girls aren't much worse than my ex-wife.  The dachshund loving scissors girl is just taking things to a different level of weird than I am used to seeing.

Not for another year or two is my guess. Last I heard they put the manga on hold so they could do "research", and as of a few months ago we got word they are starting back up again, so I would guess they are going to get a few more volumes of the manga out before they start with the anime again.

Dude, they're high school kids. They're just gonna go to the mall or something...

As I recall, the first season of the anime covered the first 17 chapters of the manga.  There have been 30 chapters of the manga released, and the last couple of chapters seem to be building up to a climax with all of the characters (at least the ones still alive) about to end up in the same place.

A few more chapters of the manga should provide enough material for the second season of the anime.
