"Driver in Corzine Crash Not Charged

By WAYNE PARRY
The Associated Press
Sunday, April 15, 2007; 3:15 AM

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J -- State Police declined to charge the 20-year-old driver of a pickup truck for leaving the scene of a crash that critically injured Gov. Jon Corzine because the man said he was trying to make room for the governor's motorcade.

However, authorities said Saturday they were leaving open the possibility the driver could face other charges, saying the investigation is not complete. Investigators still want to interview Corzine, who remained on a ventilator, unable to speak.

Surgery on the governor's injured leg was successful Saturday, and another operation was planned for Monday.

The pickup truck driver, who is blamed for Thursday night's wreck, told investigators he did not stop because he did not realize he was involved. The man's name was not released by state police because he was not charged.

"He hadn't any inkling that he contributed to it," New Jersey State Police Capt. Al Della Fave said. "That alleviates him of the responsibility of remaining at the accident scene. There's nothing he did here criminally. He did what he felt was the best he could."

Della Fave said the driver saw Corzine's motorcade with its flashing lights traveling in the left lane, and edged his pickup truck further to the right to give the official vehicles a wide berth.

In so doing, the red pickup's right wheels went onto the grassy highway shoulder, alarming the driver. He looked up to see a highway mile marker sign directly in front of him, and steered hard to the left to avoid hitting it.

That brought the red pickup back onto the roadway and into the path of a white pickup truck, which also swerved to the left to avoid the red truck. The white vehicle struck Corzine's sport utility vehicle, sending it careening into a guard rail.

The driver of the red truck was found Friday night at an Atlantic City casino where he works and interviewed by police. He was found using information from local police and leads generated from parkway surveillance cameras and toll information, police said.

The driver could not be located Saturday night at the casino where he works.

Corzine had been on his way to a meeting at his mansion in Princeton between radio show host Don Imus and the Rutgers women's basketball team.

The 60-year-old governor, who was apparently not wearing his seat belt in the front passenger's seat, broke his leg, 12 ribs, his breastbone and suffered a broken collarbone. He also had a head laceration and a minor fracture on a lower vertebra."

Mr. Gov.,

I bet you "now" (when you're off sedation, wake up and are taken off the ventilator) wish you followed the law you were elected to enforce, huh?

So the driver in the red truck was really trying to pass on the right?

Gov's motorcade was passing on the left utiilizing "emergency" (nappy ho emergency) lighting, retard in red p/u moved too far to the right, hit unpaved shoulder, overcorrected left, caused white p/u to swerve left, white p/u hit Gov "above the law" Corzine, sending him into weeks of pain, humiliation and rehab for being a liberal "above the law" dumbass.

Hilarity ensued.

Libtards can't even break the law effectively. Although they can break 16 (!, femur twice!) bones in attempting same.

He was moving over to allow the Governor to pass, ended up in the grass and swerved back into the road. The white truck reacted to that by swerving into the Governor.

He probably didn't know it was the law. In a pre-election interview he couldn't even name the drinking age.

But it's pretty funny (the seatbelt thing, not the accident) considering he a had State Police officer for a chauffeur.

As I said before; too fucking bad Bloomgberg wasn't sitting on his lap.

Limousine liberals love to pass laws for everyone else to follow, but they themselves, ignore them.

I did see a news crawl yesterday to the effect that if it is found that Corzine wasnt wearing a seatbelt, he'll be fined $46.

One good thing to say about him being governor of NJ:  He can't touch PA (like he could in the Senate).

Another bites the dust, di di do do do Another one bites the dust, di di do do do Another one bites the dust,

I think it's funny, awful darn funny that the accident was cause by this liberal pos abusing the priviledges of his office. If he had driven himself or not been traveling under the flashing lights it wouldn't have happened. Guess it was too important to act like one of us common subject and obey the laws he suported.

I swear one of these days they'll either have their own roads or all of them will have helicopters so they don't have to associate with us commoners. Laws for them and laws for us.

F' him hope he dies in pain rather than becoming the poster child for ??? Brady is anti-gun, could this guy be the new anti-pickup or anti-suv?

Because:

1. He's a liberal Democrat who is blatantly anti-gun amongst some of his other views
2. It involved a kiss and make up session between Imus (retard) and the Rutgers basketball team so I'm sure Rev. Al was going to sneak in to for a photo op. along with the leftist media
3. He's a governor of a state

I feel no pity for the man.  He was obviously a Darwin award candidate.  If you live in NJ and drive in NJ you take your life into your hands just entering some of the state's roads.  I always wore my seatbelt because there were death trap highways in that state due to how people drove.  Did the governor thing that because he had a motorcade and bodyguards he was always protected?  I guess he found out.

I'm sure he'll push for some new law banning pickup trucks or SUVs over a certain size in the state for "safety" reasons when he gets back in the govnah's seat.  Freakin Jackie.

No, it looks like he over reacted when trying to recover from going off the road. a common error, but one that would not have happened it Corzine's driver had NOT been using (abusing ?) his emergency equipment.

Corizine is a douchebag  Dem all the way.  We've been under Dem oppression for as long as I can remember and Im 34.  The bad news isnt that Corizine was in an accident.  The real bad news is that we dont have a LT govenor so now we got another asshat named Cody who is controlling our state until Corizine returns.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a hospital mix up where he expires unexpectantly.  BTW Corizine is the douche who closed the AC casinos awhile back to force the State to sign off on his budget proposal.  The AC Casinoes bring in something like 20 million a day.  Ya like we can afford to lose that revenue for a few days.  I can't wait to find out if they ticketed him for not wearing his seatbelt.

So the white truck was trying to pass the red truck, while the red truck was pulling to the right to yield to the emergency lights?  Sounds like white truck might be partially at fault.

I am also not sure why the Gov was driving over the legal limit, just to make it to his next BS appointment.  Is that worth putting other people's lives at risk?  How can you be smart enough to get yourself elected governor, but too dumb to put on a seatbelt (while speeding?)

N.J. Gov.'s SUV Went 91 Mph Before Crash

Apr 17 04:19 PM US/Eastern

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - The SUV carrying Gov. Jon S. Corzine was traveling about 91 mph moments before it crashed, Superintendent of State Police Col. Rick Fuentes said Tuesday.
The governor was critically injured when the vehicle crashed into a guardrail on the Garden State Parkway just north of Atlantic City last week. He apparently was not wearing his seat belt as he rode in the front passenger's seat.

The speed limit along that stretch of the parkway is 65 mph.

The state trooper-driven sport utility vehicle was in the left lane with its emergency lights flashing when a pickup tried to get out of its way. Instead, it set off a chain reaction that resulted in the crash.

Corzine's list of injuries was extensive: He broke his left thigh bone, a dozen ribs, collarbone and chest bone. He also fractured a vertebrae in his lower back.

He remains in critical but stable condition Tuesday and doctors were assessing when he might be ready to breathe without a ventilator.

Doctors have said he doesn't have brain damage or paralysis, and is doing well for someone who sustained so many injuries.

So in other words his driver was breaking the law by illegally using emergency lights and the Governor was breaking the law by not wearing a seatbelt.  Nice...
