Email out of Gunsite,   Jeff Cooper passed on this afternoon.

---------
Friends,

At the request of the family it is my sad duty to report the passing of
our founder, Jeff Cooper. Jeff died peacefully at home this afternoon
while being cared for by his wife Janelle and daughter Lindy.

There will be a private internment at Gunsite by invitation, with a
public memorial service at the Whittington Center at a date to be
announced.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

DVC,

Ed

One of my heroes. A man among men. I mourn this day.

I knew it was coming, yet it's still like a sudden blow.

Rest in peace, Marine.

Col. Cooper lived life and accomplished many things.  Grieve his passing, but celebrate his life.  A good Marine.

I was reading his stuff back in school, in the late 80's. If fact I bought my first 45 Kimber due to all that reading 20 years ago. He will be missed, God be with his family during this time.RIP

I remember reading his articles in Guns&Ammo in the late 1960's as a teen.
Much of what we know as pistolcraft today is based off of his work. Many a good man is still alive due to what he laid as fundamentals for combat shooting. We never would have had IPSC, IDPA, 3 gun matches, and such if it was not for him.

Condolences to his family,

Until we meet again,

RIP Col. Cooper.

Oh man, that sucks. I have a whole huge file of his quotes.

Sometimes it feels like all the good ones are going away.

Makes me want to get my 1911 even more. *sigh*

There is, if you google it. I've spent hours reading them.
