(bugle plays "Taps")

My dad dropped my BIL off at the dealer last night because his(BIL, not dad)'s truck needed repair, and the dealership "wanted" the truck above so:

The Specs:
2006 Chevy Silverado
2WD
4.3L V-6, automatic
extended cab(with rear opening doors)
20 miles
CD player
crank windows, locks
LS package

Oh and before you ask, it has buckets with a seat/console in the middle.  I consider it a bench.

So far:
the 4.3 is a good motor, the best damn motor IMO GM ever made.
the rear opening doors will come in handy, for putting groceries in the back or laundry
I didn't get a pic of this, but trust me, the numeral 87 was written on the windshield in dealership marker.
Farewell 1997 Chevy C-2500.  Even though your time was short (1 1/2 years) it has served the deej86 household well.

If there's one thing my dad hates, it's power stuff in a vehicle.

I'm definitely a n00b at digital pix.

I don't know why he got 2WD.  But, he put semi brake drums in the back of the 97, and as this was an impulse buy, he didn't remove them.  Surprise, the next owner will recieve a complimentary set of rusted semi brake drums

I like the new ride, but I love those 90's Chevys. We had a 94, fireengine red but my mom totaled it. Then we had a green one new in '96. I spend so long in one before my mom totaled it.  (Notice a pattern)

Dumbest thing chevy ever did was drop the 350ci engine.

The pastel blue 97 had a 305 He also had a 95, with a diesel.

Another thing I want to add, I never really cared for the Chevy front end of new, but they put some chrome trim pieces above the grill.

My parents drive well.

Actually it's a 262, but you're forgiven...

Krpind, my parents had an 88 Astro with the 4.3, 122K trouble free miles before it threw a rod.

Also a 2000 Blazer with the 4.3, trouble free also.

Edited to add, my dad's thinking of accessoring his new toy already.  Thinking of a tonneau cover and a "Rhino Lining".

They gave him $7000 for it.

We had a 4wd silverado WT with the 4.3. The cap and rotor(believe or not on that new of a vehicle) corroded 4 times. It wouldnt start after letting it sit awhile, or the motor would start cutting out while driving. Tell your Brother GL from me.

The 4.3 is a 350 just its 2 less cylinders.

The 350 is the best motor GM ever made.

The 4.3 is a 350 with 2 cylinders cut off (do the math).

As far as the truck goes, it should be 4x4 and at very least a 5.3L. V6 in a fullsize kinda sucks.

Oh, and I like crank windows and regular door locks. Less shit to break (Murphy is a bitch).

I was also incredibly surprised that he didn't get a V-8 after the 305.  But it has decent power.

As it's an extended cab, I checked out the legroom while at Culver's this evening.  The seat needs to be  adjusted to between all the way back and forward to have decent legroom(I'm 5'10 ish).

His truck, his money.  But I like it, and he does too.

It's my dad's truck.  My brother in law's Chevy TrailBlazer 2002 is in the shop for a TSB on the cylinder head lining cracking.

I still have my late father's 4.3 S-10 pickup with manual roll-ups and locks.  Great motor with good power and it's only a '94 with TBI, and they've definitely improved since.  Still running strong at 130,000 miles.

4.3's are great, but not the best ever made by the General.  Cheap is NOT the only reason all the old Ford hotrod rebuilds are done with Chevy 350 motors in them!

Great looking truck, btw.  Everyone in my extended family has some sort of Tahoe, Yukon, or full size GM pickup with 5.3's save one 4.3.  All are strong and trouble free.

Hope your dad enjoys it!

I hope so too.  He's going to a church retreat up in MI next week and he'll drive it up there.

Sorry to hear of your father.

i'm a bow-tie lover, but i wouldn't brag about an engine slinging a rod at 122k. or call said engine the best, having endured said experience. the gm small block v8 is by far the best engine. the 4.3 is only an adaptation there of.
