I have had this damn canker sore for almost a week now and its really starting to irritate me.  Anybody know how to get rid of these things?

Sorry, no knwon cures for those right now, as they are virus-related.

Anbesol for mouth sores works great, as does gargling with warm salt water.  They usually go away in a week or two.

Take a spoon and a small torch.  Heat the spoon until it is glowing red.  Then press the spoon onto the sore until you don't have any feeling left.  Repeat if necessary.   :)

Try Alum.  It's used in pickling and can be found in the spice section at your local store.  It's a white powder and dries the sore up pretty quickly.  Put some on the sore and leave it for as long as you can keep your mouth open.  You can just swallow it (it's kind of piquant) or wash it out.  Repeat as necessary.  Hope this works for you as well as it does for me.

A real man would ditch the spoon and just use the torch....[pyro]

Take 250mg of vitamin C 3 or 4 times a day for 3 days.  Taking more will not help as your body can absorbe only about 200mg every 8 hours.  Any excess vitamin will just be pissed out.

I get the little bastards also. I've had good results gargling with hydrogen peroxide as soon as I feel them developing. They're gone the next day. You might ask your dentist for a prescription for Triamcinolone Acetonide Dental Paste. This seems to work good on them when they get to the CANKZILLA stage. If none of the above work just stay drunk till they go away...

This is gonna sound really weird...but...yogurt.

Yep, works everytime...just eat some yogurt.

I only get these when I bite my own mouth (hey I get hungry sometimes!), never last more than a day or two.

Too Funny!

My Doctor recommended that I take Lysine to quell the cankers.  Seems to work for me.

I use a product called Zilactin,it comes in a small tube you can get at any drugstore. It hurts like heck, but it coats the sore for hours. Also I take Lysine, which is a pill. I read that your body might be short on that. You can get it at a drugstore as well. I get mine by the big bottle at Costco.

Just don't call it Herpes.  It'll get you looked at funny.

And if some gal claims to find it attractive run, don't walk, as far as you can fast.

Seriously, about the only thing you can do is outlive it.

Canker sores ARE a viral infection, and there are no true cures for viruses.

HOWEVER, rinsing with saltwater will defintely help it.  Also, try taking a vitamin called L-Lysine for several days.  I would recommend taking two pills for the first two doses/meals (don't take them on empty stomach), then one every meal for several days.

This will boost your natural immune system, and works surprisingly well for canker sores.

And yes...stop kissing skanks.
