It is a real pic.
Who has a high quality photo of the mangled bottom of a Sukhoi
on fire?

I just said it looks weird... I believe it crashed... whether or not the pic is real is NOT the question... I was justmaking a statement... it looks weird.

I was talking to Stormrider, NOT YOU!

I've seen other pics of the event in question, I'm not doubting that it happened, thought I haven't seen the video. That pic just looks waaay too off, but then again, I (like I usually am  ) could be wrong

All of these were taken at Midland Intl. Airport during the 2004 CAF airshow with my crappy little digicam, which combined with my craptastic photographer skills don't make for a good photo, but here they are anyway

By far one of the sexist planes ever ^

See above comment

This is what they called a "Heritage Flight" at the local Airshow

Something looks wierd in this pic. Notice the crashing jet is IN FRONT of the "Hercules" looking plane and yet the perspective on it looks weird.

Yea.....I seriosuly doubt that is a real pic. The aircraft is WAY to large in proportion to the people on the ground.

You've never seen this video?  IIRC it was all over the place when it went down.

Here's a little better picture.

I've see the pictures of the aftermath too, they are not pretty.

Gen. Rall is a fox amongst sheep. What a badass, and he's a nice guy to boot. I wouldnt want to be on the other end of his MK108

Most of the Great Bf-109 pilots prefered the MG 151 20mm Cannon, the Mk108 was horrid for any shooting beyond point blank range.  The MG 151 was quite deadly and gave the pilot the ability to shoot farther out accurately.   The MK-108 was only good for Erich Hartmann point blank style of shooting, Hartmann also was quite a shot also but preferred close in stuff.

Many of these Experten had the Mk108's ripped out of the late model Bf-109's to have the MG-151's installed.

Yea, I know the 108 was a short range shotgun, but one hit could kill anything. I could see why hartmann used it. Fill the windscreen, and let her rip.

I have Hartmann's book, he prefered the MG 151 also, MK-108 along with accuracy problems was prone to jamming during hard manuevers.  Hartmann liked to use hard violent manuevers in combat.

One's chances of flying back home after meeting Hartmann in the air were virtually zero, the only indication most ever got was feeling their plane get ripped apart.  He shot down 7 Mustangs in TWO sorties this way, one was supposedly a 15 victory ace.

Hartmann could glance at the situation and make a determination as to who among the enemy were most vulnerable, pre-occupied, or otherwise easy to kill.

I believe that photo was shot from the Army side of the 2002 Army Navy Game, where the Mids had 2 tomcats flyover (LATE).  However, the Mids did kick the snot out of the Ka-dets that day.

Yes, Alcatraz. I can make out SS Jeremiah O Brien and USS Pampanito on the pier.

The reason the airplane looks so big compared to the people it's crashing into is because Flanker is actuually a very large airplane. For a fighter, it's huge. Makes its maneuverability all the more impressive.

The Ekranoplan version you see there is equipped with SS-N-22 Sunburn missiles. Talk about a fast-strike anti-shipping ability. It has the firepower of two destroyers but travels at 400mph well below the radar. I believe they only built two or three with the missile ability, however.
