Thanks, Stoney.
Part of the business the GF and I own is delivery and set-up of a type of equipment to veterans, ordered by the V.A. Medical Center.
I alternately enjoy and get dismayed when I visit with the veterans.
Enjoy because I realize that I'm generally in the presence of humble greatness.
Dismayed because all too many of these guys are essentially on their last legs-and know it, too.
Most of the vets are War II, some are Korean. I delivered to one Vietnam vet's house and as I was setting up his equipment I noticed a framed picture-magazine cover, actually-of two GIs assisting another that seemed to be dazed or wounded. I asked, "Do you know the people in the picture?"
"Yes", he replied. "I'm the guy in the middle, when I still had my legs".
It was then I nopticed that though he was in a wheelchair, those weren't his lower legs but high quality prosthesis.
I'll stop rambling but I always try to convey to ALL of them that they ARE greatly appreciated.
