Just curious if anyone here has ever fired or handled an FN F2000? I have read that they may be releasing a semi version next year - and my curiosity is tweaked.

I call it the "Bat Gun"  www.fnhusa.com/contents/tw_f2000.htm

Any info you can share about your experience with it would be apreciated!

Thanks!

Similar to the P90..I have only held the P90 (I couldn't afford the ammo, or I would have shot it), but I have shot the new pistol...No recoil at all..

I guess it is a removable optic -

"In the basic configuration, the upper rails mounts 1.6X magnification optical sights, and the lower mounting point is covered by removable handguard. The unique feature of the F2000 rifle is its' patented front ejection systems: the spent cases, extracted from the chamber, travel from the rear part of the gun to the ejection port near the muzzle via special ejection tube and falls out of the gun at the safe distance from the shooters' face.

here is a "break down" picture for you

Uses standard AR15 magazines too!

With a 22" barrel I would buy it in a second... If I could afford it

It looks good and I like the design (I'm a bullpup fan so that explains it)

and if the scope uses a laser to calculate distance and bullet drop...I wonder if they will use that same teck for optional scopes for other rifles.  I would be quite happy and buy that scope... after I get my first firearm.

All I have to say is "Batter-Up!"

Also, the estimated release date.

I have. I took off a dead Belgian soldier and sprayed a bunch of terrorists with automatic fire, followed by a 40mm grenade through the windshield of the van they used to get into the area. The situation escalated until I was hanging upside down off a semi-truck and shooting at a bunch of French gun-runners in expensive sportscars while being chased by a helicopter. I eventually took down the chopper and the gun-runners and hundreds of nubile, attractive girls threw themselves at me and swore that if I only let them experience a Texan that they'd never go back to the pansy European men again.

Oh. Wait. You mean in real life. Then no.

Yes...it does look like the Halo gun a bit I would sure like to see one in person, or hear from someone that has seen one in person.

I have shot one. It handles similar to an AUG. In full auto it is very controllable. It is quick to present, because of the holo sight, and it just fits 'right', like FN did their ergonomic homework. Trigger pull is not bad (AUG). It is accurate.  It is different as it ejects the empty cases through a channel in the stock that exits in the right front of the weapon. There is a composit 'hammer' dedicated to smacking the empty cases as soon as they eject, out through the channel. It may look different, but it handles very well, and seemed to be very reliable. ( when I ran it). I did, however, see the FN chaps smacking on it to clear a couple of jammed cases in the channel??!!  this was 3 years ago though, so this model has probably seen minor upgrades since then. The FN rep said that they had run about 40,000 rounds through the one that I had fired. It ran very well indeed. The sight is electronic, I believe it is the same one as on the p90 (eotech?). Anyway, with the price of AUG's, I wouldn't mind having a semi auto version of this one, if it is considerably cheaper ( than the AUG). By the way (this is just my opinion. I don't care for full auto except for a dedicated belt feed etc. a good semi will do better with less, in the hands of a good operator) the only exception may well be the p90, now THAT little weapon can put some controllable lead down range. It's hard to say how effective the tiny projo will be though. Time will tell.
regards

I would'nt hold my breath seeing it on the civilian market.  Would be nice, but after the Tavor and the DSA AUG not following through, im a bit pessimistic

I expect the Tactical model will brought to market, basicly the same rifle with a picatinny/1913 rail in place of the Electro Optic sight.

should be selling at about US$1700

freewilly -

Wow! Thanks for the run down on your time with the F2000! Would you say it is beter handling than an AR15 of comparable weight? (I am not sure if this is a fair comparison - but I thought I would ask)

What is the minimum weapon length requirement for a gun like this? The barrel length is already 15.75" long - so not much more needed there, unless 10 or so inches are needed to make the entire gun length legal

Anyone know?

NFA '34 requries the weapon to be 26" in length.

If that is the case then it is just right!! The FN site states it is 27.32" long (the barrel would need to be .25" longer though)

Since Bullpups are not the fashon then my guess the price will be under $1000

Classic AR/M16 style are all the rage for 5.56 NATO rounds.

But Since I'm a bullpup fan I want one.

Does the P90 feel like a "toy" (very light weight)? Do you think it would be any fun in semi-auto?
