OK, I have what I think is a great idea.

Many of us remember the A&E/History Channel special "Story of the Gun" and loved it but aren't quite willing to pay $59.95 + s/h for the 4 DVD set.

So my idea is kinda a "group rental" of sorts.

We get 10 people who each pay $7.00 (about the cost of 2 DVDs at Blockbuster IIRC) which will give us a total of $70.00. I order the DVD and each participant can keep it for up to a week before sending it to the next guy in line on the list.

When each participant has had it for a week (or less if they only need 2 days to watch it) then it can go to the general population of AR15.com. In other words it gets shipped to the next person in line on the list and each of them can have it for up to a week.

Couple safegaurds. Each person is responsible for the cost of shipping to the next person and is responsible for proof of shipping. Anyone who has the DVD set lost, stolen or damaged while in their care must repay $7.00 to each of the original members who paid for the set.

If at any time the DVD set stops circulating due to lack of interests it will become the property of one of the original 10 paying members to be decided by random drawing.

If we can get 9 more people who are interested I will get this done.

If successsful we can do this with other titles of interest.

RULES:

DVD will deliver to members in ORDER of their posting on this thread

Edit your post when DVDs are IN your possession.

10-18-04 DVDs have been in my possession and were mailed out today to fallingwrench.

if you're gonna pay a bunch of money for a circulating DVD set, wouldn't it be un-arfcom of you for it not to be BoB??

Hey, SA, you have to think bigger! How about an additional $10 - 20 per year on the membership fees, & then buy a library of titles. When they aren't in use, they go back to a central library. I bet that you could buy the titles cheap if you bought enough of them or set up a blanket purchase to buy a certain number in a specific time. The library could be kept by Sgtar15 because he has so much time on his hands that he plays with dolls... er, um, I mean "action figures."

Seriously though, since it would be a PITA to administer, I bet that an out side service could be hired to send out the DVDs for an inexpensive fee. All speculation, of course.

Ok, since I can't help in the funding of this (wish I could!), I will take the name of the first person who wants BoB, cost: $5 for Priority Mail shipping. (Yeah, I am that broke....) 1 Month to view (Or a Saturday Marathon), then pass to the next on list. Those who have contributed to SA and haven't seen BoB are first in line (Tex?), post below.

Right now, on related topic: Canon 80-200 2.8L Lens I have in the "ARF Community". If you need a fast long zoom lens for Canon SLR to use for a while (2 months has been typical of the past two holders), IM Me. (Team Only, preferably that I have met, or somebody I met will vouch for, sorry, it is a spendy piece of glass...)

I also have BoB (purchased NEW on ebay a year ago) but two of the discs look like the Dinks at the warehouse dropped them and walked on them. The two won't play in my player.

Brass- I may have to get the two discs that I can't watch from you, just so I can see what I've missed out on.

I've done everything I can.

I negotiated it, set it up and contacted staff for approval several times. They told me approx 2 weeks then the inquiry in the .50 forum got moved to the EE then to the Trash.

I'm still ready to do the second I get approval but I can't make them give me approval. I've done everything I can up to this point.

That should have been 'The Day After', not 'The Day After Tomorrow'.
TDA is a fairly good movie, though slightly tedious.

Leaking ~~coolant~~ water like a submarine with a screen door! I stopped wasting money on antifreeze. It just runs straight out. I just put a new ALT and battery in it. And new brakes all around a couple of months ago. Man, it's time to get out of this money pit!!!!! It's killing my "toy" fund.
