ETA: Oops! faux wood grain trim on the door - probably an Infinti (but same thing basically)

From the autopsy photos I've seen, a .223 at close range could make that wound.

Believe it or not, I've actually seen much worse. I once saw the aftermath of a suicide in which a guy put a .270 under his chin and pulled the trigger. I'll not go into any gruesome details, but the front half of the guys head was just gone (and deposited over much of his living room). Those pics posted here are damn graphic. But it's amazing to consider some gunshots look even more nasty. Geez, what a high powered rifle at point blank range can do to the head is unbelievable.

Think of it this way...

You skull is bone and not exactly soft/flexible. With a muzzle in contact your head will momentarrily contain not only the bullet, but ALL of the venting gasses from the end of the bbl. THAT is a LOT of force and the end result is similar to smashing a grape.

Wonder if he had anything in the car like a bomb or if he was just ate up with the dumbass? I guess over there if you want to commit suicide you just get in the car and head through a check point. Looks like 223 to me. Never shot anyone in the head, but I have jfk'd many a deer, some of them looked about that bad and were shot with 6mm.
