I loves my beef jerky, but lately I have resorted to homemade, just because store bought stuff just can't compare to homemade.  Are there any really REALLY good beef jerky brands out there, maybe small time mail-order stuff, that can compare to homemade?

For reference, I like mine thin, sort of crunchy, and spicy.  Previously, my favorite brand was Jack Link's Peppered, but that no longer holds a candle to what I make with some London Broil and a dehydrator.

I remember having some stuff from a roadside stand in Texas that apparently was laced with crack, because I have been craving it ever since.  Unfortunately, that was years ago and I have long since forgotten the name of the place.

No. I have never had commercial jerky that could match home made from my biltong box.

Both my attempts at making beef jerky have sucked... one didn't get seasoned nor dry enough, and the other got coated with a tarry substance because we used the wrong wood in the smoker.

That said, the best beef jerky I've ever had is the Pacific Gold steakhouse flavor, $10 per pound.

I used to buy some a long time ago called Honest Injun. I don't see it anymore but its was never as good as mine.

Also like to make mine out of London Broil.

There is a place called "Edwards Meats" in Colorado just outside of Denver. Its a butcher that has all kinds of exotic meats. They make their own jerky, and have every kind you can dream up (elk, bison, beef, ostrich, mule deer, venison, etc)

I dont think they ship, but if you are ever in the area....you cant go wrong.

I have just the ticket.
Buy the 24 pack for 19.50
It comes in store shelf display boxes, individually wrapped.
If you come to my house there is always a box on the counter.
I grab a bag and take it to work, or whatever, all the time.

Buy the hot. It's not that hot, but it is flavorful.
The Lemon Pepper is good, as well.

I think shipping is included.

I am not kidding.

Jerky recipes are like favorite fishing holes. You have to know someone a long time to take him to your secret fishing spot and be allowed to have sex with his wife.

Check out www.jerkyhut.com.

They sell jerky at gun shows around Florida, and they ship nationwide.

Their product is second to none, IMHO.

Cedar Creek is a brand ins Southwest Missouri. They have the best commercial product I've tasted. Still doesn't quite measure up to homemade, but it's close. I'd like to buy an interest in the company if they ever go public.

This is pretty subjective but www.hicountry.com is out here in Lincoln, MT and has a bunch of different products, always stop when I'm driving by. They have an easier to chew version for us wimps also.

After reading this, I was heading for the register at Wally World and there is a rack of Jack Link's Original Beef Jerky.  Thought I'd try it after reading a recommendation.  I won't say how many times I went back and bought more.   I think I'm hooked.  How do you get off this stuff?

Tried a new brand. Its "Grandpa's" brand name. I don't know where it is made out of, but it is distributed out of Willoughby, Ohio. I've had a few of their Spicy Hickory Smocked bags and some of their Jalapeno.   Has real good flavor.

In my area there is a Jerky Hut franchise and it's the best that I've had locally.  I like jerky to be more dried steak-like than really hard and dry and that's the way Jerky Hut makes it.  They are always at our gunshows.
