MK18 or similiar, is better at everything but ammo cost.
If OAL is your concern, then do an even shorter .300BLK version. |

Are you opposed to building your own? I built a Glock mag AR-9 for under $1,000 this year, including optic.
$ 113 for an 80% receiver from 5D $ 359 for an upper from AndroCorp $ 50 for a brace off the EE $ 30 give or take for a LPK I had lying around $ 380 for a used Eotech XPS2 Total of about $932 in the whole thing. If you don't want to self source stuff, you can get a complete AR-9 lower from PSA for $210, which is a little more than what I put together. |

Curious on the answers. I don’t have a sub gun, but would consider it. However, they don’t seem as cost effective as other calibers to build or buy. Part of that is avoiding blowback.

The AKVs seem to do quite well at local competitions.
The Stribog might also be another option, but no first hand experience. |

I really like my Scorpion. It is accurate and has a decent aftermarket and cheap magazines. The only real downside is the recoil. The direct blowback action makes it feel like you are shooting something bigger than a 9mm.

My AKv has broke 3x and also took 700ish rounds to be 100% reliable.
The recoil spring broke once (PSA sent me 2 replacements) My bolt hold open would get stuck but PSA sent me a label for the return but I found out it was just a loose screw on the bolt release button (simple fix) My extractor broke (I had a replacement kit and simple fix) All that said I have probably 3-5k of mag dumps through it and besides the first 700 it ran flawless. Only likes certain types of hollow point and hates flat nose. Also heavy but I love it. Ap5k has been flawless after a HK ejector upgrade but has less than a K so far |

Had a scorpion Evo carbine but the ergonomics were screwy for me. I really think it's an exceptional gun though if you like the controls and mag release. I know there are some aftermarket options now help with this.

Best one now, and wildly underappreciated? Stribog SP9A3.
Get that with the curved magazines, and you have a sweet roller delayed 9mm SMG. I say SMG, because if I want a 16" carbine, I'll run a rifle round. But if you want an 8" BBL, get that. Beware Grandpower Bumblefucked around their development, to get here. So all the youtube "influencers" hate STRIBOG because they ran earlier generation "development" guns. Which is bullshit on GrandPower's side - but here we are. Know what not a single one of those youtube revenue Generators ever actually ran? An SP9A3 model Stribog (current model, >4000 S/N) with curved mags (current 3rd gen mags). Not any of them. Get that gun, and ya got something sweet- for under $1k. Roller delay baby! - in the 21st century. As to the rest, if it's blowback - maga-fail, that's some primitive shit there. Make sure you protect its flash-pan from moisture, if you roll that heavy jumpy ride. |

MP5 clone would be first choice, that said I've put a few cases of 9mm through my AKV and its been very reliable and very fun to shoot. My Scorpion is last gen, decent amount of rounds through it and not blown up yet, need a few hundred in upgrades out of the box, guess the new addresses some of those issues though.

If you can source one within your range, the GHM9 is amazing. I currently have three variants. Blowback, but has a hydraulic buffer. Still no delay in the system, but it’s super soft. I really didn’t care for the Stribog, but candidly haven’t handled one since the first gen.

I had heard bad things about early Stribog's and was wondering if they had fixed those issues. Sounds like they have. I'm a fan of 9mm PCC's and have just about all of them except a Stribog. I'm really liking the roller delayed action on my AP5-P, so I'll take a closer look at the Stribog model you mentioned. Where's a good place to get them? They seem to be $950 on GunBroker. You recommend the 5" or 8" barrel? |
