Welcome to the club! I've had an ARM model since 1984, and it's the one rifle I'd never consider selling. Oddly enough, I just picked up an AR type front handguard, and at the moment, it looks just like your piece. Just in case you're not aware of it, the Valmet site;
www.valmet-weapons.com
has also become the more or less official Galil site. Check them out, if you haven't already.

Whoops, just noticed your piece is missing the night sites. If you're interested in getting some, check back on the Valmet's site's message board. I think there were a couple of notes there 2 or 3 months ago on some sources for them.

Good Call!

I've made the call myself before! Mine is a Model 392 which is the 16 inch barreled ARM. Personally, I feel that the Valmet is a superior combat weapon, but nothing beats Galil Quality (Well maybe FN mfg products).

Just re-enforcing that we do not own Assault Rifles. They are SURs, some made by ARmaLite.

Thanks everybody. I've been looking for a Galil AR in 5.56 for a while. It is a Magnum Research import. Thanks for the Valmet.com address, I am looking for spares and the night sights and check them out. Yes, that is a M16 mag adapter. Cost for me was $2???.
