Hell, at that rate it would be cheaper to buy a stripped lower and fill in the parts. The shop probably adds a percentage to the total $ amount, with a stripped lower being less commission because it costs less.

That's the problem. Some of these local guys make it impossible to buy from them. I have no problem with them making a buck, but I don't want to be hosed.
