It's a L1A1 on a Imbel metric reciever. It's a great shooter but could use a new finish on it.Ok people, should I try one of those spray on & bake finishes or sent it out to be done by one of the pro refinishing shops? If any one has pics of their own re-dues or had thiers sent out I like to see the finished product.
Pics make it look better then it is. barrel & break have several cuts marks on them. trigger section looks like the finish is wearing down alot & the reciever has the Imbel dark grey color, and the rest of the rifle is a black shade.

Looks ok to me.  Unless you're gonna sell it, invest in more ammo instead of finish.

Have used the bake - ons before, (sorry no pics) result was OK, and durable.  Nothing beats genuine Parkerizing, but the baked - on was a close 2nd.

Ready for a really cheap and durable finish?
I've got an L1A1 KlintonSporter with the Imbel receiver.  The "new blue" finish from Century Arms wasn't even blued; it was flaking off and easily removed with my fingernail.  Solution?
I carefully taped off the stock; removed the handguards and taped off any holes or crevices; and proceded to use a green 3M ScotchGard pad with 100% rubbing alcohol to get the offending crap off the gun.
Finish was applied with: RUSTOLEUM BBQ BLACK 1300 DEGREE HIGH TEMP PAINT...
I applied it evenly, and in several coats.  I let it dry for a week.  Do not hurry here.
After it was dry, I reassembled the gun and took it out for some shooting.  At one point, I ran a 20-rd. mag all the way and the gun was SMOKIN'!
Any and all residual grease or wet paint was immediately cured at that moment.
The finish has lasted over 4 years.  It is matte black and smooth.  Looks good.  Costs about 5 bucks.  Good Luck.
