They don't make claims about durability or life. I don't have a problem believing that product, if it performs to the specifications laid out, could work as well as the snapon product, at least until it breaks.

"Pro composite" is a funny selling point though.

It's very common place for the Chinese to use a company's product tooling and resources to make their own knock-offs on 2nd and 3rd shift.

It's been shown to make as much torque as the snap-on.  Haters gonna hate, but HF can sell some really good stuff.

This, and it is a pretty damn good impact.  Damn near broke my finger the first time I used it.  Much more torque than I expected.

My $6 harbor freight pneumatic cut-off tool is rock solid and has thus far given me years of reliable service.

Same with the $20 brad nailer.

To be fair, I've never used a Snap-On impact that was any good.

Pretty much any IR impact beats the shit out of Snap-On.

same here

and their top of the line floor jack is way better then snap ons $600 version for the same thing, Snap on just lost to HF about the jack in court and it came out that they were/are made on the same line

HF has come a long way on their "premium" line stuff
granted they still have lots of other shitty tools but some nice ones as well

So this LOL is directed towards the OP

Not unique to China, its done a lot here in the US as well. I worked for a injection molding company that made toner cartridges and other plastic pieces for Toshiba and a few other misc big brands, and we would just pop the Toshiba or whatever brand name plate out of the mold and replace it with another or blank plate and do runs of aftermarket parts. Literally the same plastic mix, in the same factory, on the same machines, same QA checks, and they sell for half as much.

We abuse the shit out of a earthquake inpact at our shop for well over a year and no problems. It gets used at least 3 times a day for hitch work. No problems with it.

It's not new either. Back in the 1970s a friend worked at a tool company. They made some consumer tools, but much of the product were specialty tools. Part of his job was to change the name plates for the various brands of tools they made. They'd setup to make a certain tool, run x number of tools for one brand, switch name plates, then run y number of tools for the next brand.

You can buy 5 or 6 HF for one snap on and all the reviews say they chooch about the same so for the home use guy...

IMO The best impact is an Ingersol Rand by far. That being said the HF impact appears to be an exact copy

of the IR

HF's Daytona jack is made in the same factory as the Snap-On, and they're actually getting sued by them for the comparison adds lol.

I actually bought one but only have used it a few times, it's definitely quality we'll see about longevity though.

LOL at OP since thread didn't go as he thought it would.

HF does make some good shit.  You just have to get a lot of it stuck between your toes to figure out which one smells the best.  I have the old 3/8 Impact. It kicks ass.  My 1/2" is an IR.
