I think VA has the best slogan on our flag.

Sic semper tyrannis is a Latin phrase meaning "thus always to tyrants". It is a shortened version of the phrase "Sic semper evello mortem tyrannis" ("Thus always I bring death to tyrants").

I thought you said this was a best state flag thread. All I see is a boring flag that has three colors and a star. Is it Puerto Rico? Or Cuba? Some other banana republic?

It's a amazing that most people don't realize that the current va flag is a version of the 1861 secession flag. After the war, va revised the seal so that liberty's spear is pointing down, to symbolize that va had been defeated.

Btw, I've always thought that Arizona's flag looked like a commie flag....

I know I am a sandlapper by birth but I have lived a bunch of places. The SC flag is my favorite, subdued but artistic. Very original.

Close second is AZ.

Arizona wins by a knockout, and it ain't even close.

Here's why:

1.) Just look at it. That's a bad ass flag.

2.) History. The Arizona flag was designed by the Territorial Rifle Team to carry when they went to Camp Perry to represent Arizona at the National Matches. Later adopted as the state colors.

That's right-- Arizona flag designed by shooters to take to a rifle match. Suck it other state flags, you lose.
