Got a C308 and talked about it here: Archive Thread (TLDR: broken extractor, about a month to get the parts from Century).
Today, I was doing some work on it to make it CA compliant . During this process, I chambered a round from my 10 round magazine to make sure the feeding issues from my 5 rounder were in fact caused by that mag (they were). Pulled the bolt back, locked it, picked the ejected round off the floor, and saw this: Factory new round left, ejected round right Attached File My firing pin spring is, like every other part in my gun, surplus. Apparently, it was so surplus that it can't retain the firing pin when the bolt flies forward, and allows the firing pin to peek out and strike the primer. What the f**k Century! What if this had gone off? If it fired, and the recoil cycled it, what was to stop it from happening 9 more times! Could have had a f**king run-away full auto going off in my garage! IDK how other people's C308s are, but I no longer feel safe with the condition of my rifle, and won't feel safe until I have modern, factory new springs from stem to stern. Some of them I can find on hkparts.net, but I can't find ANY of the FCG springs or parts because HK doesn't seem to have them. Anyone know where to get the springs for a non-shank trigger pack? Or know a company that sells a complete kit of springs? For obvious reasons, I'm not really trusting any springs Century would send me. |

5 min mark--you're not the only one. Century makes junk.
Should You Buy a Century C308 Battle Rifle? (G3, CETME, PTR clone) |
Oh boy OP. You should check that against all your EBR's and then report back here! You never know!
Ar pattern rifles do that. Which is why I like CCI primers for loading anything that goes in an AR pattern rifle.
Is this your first time dealing with a military style rifle?
This is not at all unusual. If you want real excitement, get yourself a Springfield trigger to go with it. |
Free floating pins are very dangerous and should not be utilized any more.
Send me that piece of junk and I can add a spring to it. |
So many fucking gun companies get away with this bullshit.
Hi, Bersa. My Bersa 380 used to dimple primers when the decocker was used. |

Why are you using live ammo for this?
There are reasons they make snap caps... |
Free floating firing pins do that every time a round is chambered.
Try that on an AR and tell me the dimple is smaller.
Ill wait. |
I guess the op has never done that with an AK. A brand new bolt and firing pin does that EVERY time. That round isn't even close to going off or detonating. It's a military weapon with a floating firing pin. Not grand papy's Remington 770.

I don't think I've had any problems with mine except that it trashes brass pretty often.

Your rifle is a machine gun, please turn yourself in.
Tampons are on aisle six. |

Mine shoots fine so far. But the no windage adjustment sucks. Since it shoots about a foot to the left. I'm sure that's why they welded on the rail. So I need a cheap red dot or something that a .308 won't kill.

View Quote I just checked FOUR different AR rifles (Colorado compliant, so...normal). Every damn one of them has a free floating firing pin. Its a wonder i didn't shoot my nuts off. Come on, OP, that's how these things work. |
Go chamber your AR's and see what happens...or maybe don't and just keep them locked up from now on.

Use sight adjustment tool to rotate, it simultaneously moves up/down and left/right.That's my understanding anyway. |

Try compressing the firing pin with your finger to protrude from the bolt face. If its in "spec" it will not protrude. It a bear and takes quite a bit of pressure. Mine does that too.

Watch that vid above, about 5 minutes in. Slam fire on the range.
I'll take "Military Primer Hardness" for 600, Alex...
Even then, I never chamber a round in any of my AR/AK/FAL,etc. rifles unless I am very literally about to shoot. |
I guess I'd better go throw out all of my AR's now, since every AR ever made (without a firing pin spring) does this...

Slam fire on a rifle without a floating firing pin, a broken firing pin, broken springs, shitty unpredictable trigger leading to unintended double-taps, horrid accuracy. What's not to like? |

Replace the spring, done. Yes, AR firing pins freefloat and strike the primer when they are chambered. This rifle has a spring to stop that from happening, so it is not working properly. Replace the spring instead of stroking out.
