Was doing some reading and came across this article.  While it is hardly scientific, he does make some good points.  

Plus it makes me feel good about myself, so there's that!  

Can you bench press 225lbs or more?

Nope. Weigh 155. When I used to lift regularly I could bench 255 at 160 body weight and rep 225 about 5x. I imagine I could get to 225 somewhat quickly.

I couldn't even do that 40 years ago when I thought I was strong. Now I have the wisdom to admit that kind of lifting is a job for cylinders and hydraulic fluid.

This question and poll always crack me up.

Right now the poll is at 60%+ that can.  That is the equivalent to 60%+ of GD being hung like a horse.  The reality is the vast majority of people would struggle repping a single plate (135lbs).

My old workout was 3 sets of 10 reps @225. I've gone away from that but can still get 225 up once.

Probably, last time I benched (which was over a year ago) I got 3x 255.

Right now the only chest exercises I do are pushups (1 or 2 sets of 100 reps per day) and weighted pushups (40 or 80lbs vests).  I feel like it's likely enough chest exercise to keep my strength up to benchpress 225.

when I was in my early 30's I could still work out with 225, for 8-10 reps, weighing around 185.

I'm older now, and my shoulders are the limiting factor. I still do the similar weight with dumbells for biceps, and my back is still a rock.

Yes.  Getting back in shape now.  I haven't maxed out in a while, but I'm pressing 95-100 lb dumbbells 10x5 on chest day.  Comparing that with past workout phases, this should put my max in the 275-285 neighborhood.

Got myself up to a 10x10 @ 225 back in 2015.

Right now I'm sitting at a 1RM of 275-285. Working my way back to the 300+

When I was young and in my prime, yes.

Baseball shoulder injury and my disdain for lifting heavy things would prevent me from doing it now.

I doubt it. I've never tried since I don't have a rack at home and that's where I lift. I just stick to dumbells. I usually do sets of 7-10 reps with 70lb DBs.

Yep. 315 is where I hit my plateau every time. This morning it was 275 for an easy 8 but after working up to 315 I could only hit one.

I always lifted for the athletic build/looks and health, don't care about moving super heavy weight and blowing up.
Heaviest I've ever lifted was 205lb and that was just 2yrs ago. I just started back in the gym 2 weeks ago after not lifting for about 4-5 months. Hurt back and life
I can rep up 1 plate but no where near 200 right now. Probably by the summer but I never did a lot of bench work mostly dumbbell presses.

Right now, probably not. I weigh about 160 lbs. Benching 225 is about 180% of my body weight.

I can deadlift and squat a pretty significant percentage of my body weight (315 for 5 reps in deadlift, and I don't know for squat, but it's pretty close to that) but I suck pretty bad at bench. I'm working on it. I'm essentially at body weight for 5 sets of 5 reps. My goal is 5x5 for 180 lbs by the end of next month. One rep max after that? I don't know. I doubt 225, though.

I don't even weight 225.  I think 200lb would be my max and that's me being an honest 35 year old guy.  Looking at the poll it seems some don't understand that's pretty heavy.

Yes, it's my current max (no spotter) at 145lbs body weight. I don't bench often enough though, every other week or so. On decline I can do 5 sets of 5 easy enough at 2 plates. Just don't like going too high without a spot.

No, I'm too old now (60).
But even back when (20 years ago) the most I could ever do was 195 (which was 40 pounds over my weight).
I'm not a very powerful guy.....

Not anymore!  Used to bench 325+, weighed only 160!  Used to laugh at 200-250!  Right now, I can barely get my fat ass out of bed!
