You guys are forgetting about the guys who make their own.My army gunsmith friend made mine,and it's great,looks nicer then the bushys I see at the local club.It's got a RRA lower,and DPMS parts.Very nice.

Several brands of AR's can compete equally well.
I've definately seen examples of Colts/Armalites/Bushmasters that are all about as nice as an AR can get. Just depends on what brand get's you a rifle at the best price. From there, it's just a matter of setting up a shooting system that meets your needs(i.e.-the right upper, scope .....) I do have to say that though I have a gripe with the new Knights SR-15 M4, the lines of the Knights rifles are really quite unique. Unlike any other AR. If you've never held a Knights AR next to any of the others, try it sometime. |

I like Armalite, BM, Colt. I own a couple Colts right now but would be proud to own any of these.
BTW, Colt barrels are the Best! |

Just like automobiles, we all have our favorites. I have friends who swear by Colt, Bushmaster, Armalite etc. I even know one guy who slapped together a butt-ugly frankengun from M&A on an Oly cast lower and it keeps going and going and going and going...
This debate is akin to the "tastes great / less filling" debate of the late '70's. Get what works for you and then practice putting rounds through the X-ring. Enough said. Oh yeah... go Bushmaster! [;)] |

The AR is the baskin-robins of guns. 31 flavors, all good. But is still best to stick to A,B,C for quality, fit and finish, accuracy, service, and dependability.

I think the best AR is the one that best meets your own subjective needs for quality, reliability, affordability, and perhaps collectability. The answer to the question is obviously going to vary considerably between individuals.
For me, the answer to that question is Colt. But it's not for me to fault someone else who finds that Bushmaster, ArmaLite, PWA, or whatever provides an equally appropriate answer for them. Heck, if you can get a cheap Hesse to run right I say more power to you. |
