Just about that time again.
 Season begins October 23, 2016.  READ***SPOILERS***READ The following thread will contain information pulled from every source, up to the most current episode. This will include the Comics, official previews, trailers, etc. If you do not wish to see any spoilers, then I suggest you stay out of this thread. Any and all potential spoilers from future episodes, information from the comics further down the road, or leaked information, MUST be put within a spoiler a box. The junkyard romulans are definitely a very weak angle, and they are another prime example of the show writers not offering up good new ideas that are not already in the comics. When they have a solid road map of where to take the show they do ok, but when they start noodling with the recipe it is like a child playing kitchen. The recipe calls for eggs, flour, vanilla, sugar and butter... and they decide to throw in some asparagus, a half a head of limburger cheese and a few cups of salt. That should make for an "interesting" concoction, right? Well, sometimes different and "interesting" is a megaramsay too far... the megaramsay being a unit of culinary suck.
Then again I have a theory about this new group... that theory being the show writers have purposefully introduced a semi-ridiculous group previously (the Wolves) and another one now, so that when they introduce a totally rag-suckingly ridiculous group later on there will be a pre-established history of goofiness so the transition is not as jarring. Ease the audience into the suspension of disbelief. |

Surely the garbage pail kids are from a mental institute or some sort of special needs school, it's too soon to be regressing into mad max society.
Seriously, most of the TWD factions are just silly assuming this is only a couple years after the outbreak. Here are some more realistic and interesting ideas for factions: Group of military survivors, could be good guys, could have turned bad, or maybe a bit of both. Splinter group of survivors of the former gov't. Group that claims to be lawful gov't of the US. Remnants of foreign power. Organized gang (motorcycle, black, Hispanic, mafia, whatever). Traditional survivalist group. Religious group (good or bad). Hot cheerleader faction that don't wear much clothing. Non of these ideas are really unique and many have been used in other apocalyptic stories, but all have more potential than what we are seeing now. |
