Is that a Happy Days pinball machine?!? View Quote That is the infamous Bally "Eight Ball" pinball. They just went ahead and used Fonzie and Pinky on the back glass without permission and got sued for it. It's a decent solid state-machine but it plays like a 70s electro-mechanical game. Kind of slow for my taste |

I used to skate a lot back then. Not too many girls looked like that.

Cigarettes were 45¢ a pack, beer was $1.99 a six, and interest rates on mortgages were 16%.

Fort Hood Texas and Gallant Crew 78.
It rained nearly every day. It rained so much the base newspaper had a cartoon of two soldiers throwing mud at each other "Bang! Bang! I Got You" read the caption. Reservists and National Guardsmen came to Fort Hood to play soldier and stuff. I got to drive around an Evaluator for the exercise. I recall seeing a C-130 flying around with its ramp lowered. I never saw it drop anything or see paratrooper jump out of it either. I drove around a couple of Fort Hood DZ's often enough though. I even drove through the Impact Area a time or two, too. Fort Hood has cliffs! Some where in the Impact Are there are some cliffs! There was a small herd of goats living in the cliffs! I took some pictures of the goats. I wish I still had the pictures: I lost them when I lost a bag going over to Italy and Vicenza. Those goats were some sight... |

We have yoga pants now. Underneath those 70s pants is a hairy bush. We've come a long way.

I remember 1978. I even had a "I survived the Blizzard of '78" t-shirt. http://i67.tinypic.com/1z2j8sn.jpg http://i67.tinypic.com/oaq72h.jpg View Quote Chicago transplant? I remember the blizzard well... |

I hated 78, the year I graduated HS sucked until December when I hooked up with the girl I should have married.

I was living on campus at Northern Michigan University near the beautiful shores of Lake Superior.
We got the blizzard and the cold. In February the temperature was -34° and that new thing called wind chill factor was -54° while I was doing preflight on a Cessna 152. It was my first cross country flight & the cabin got up to 32°. We had so much snow piled up, it still hadn't all melted by the end of May. Last day of classes was sunny & 45° and girls were sun bathing. |

And I was 19 and kicking ass making shit money and out of my parents house. Sharing a 3rd floor walkup rent with 2 of my best buddies for $325 a month. Living on macaroni tuna and eggs. It was fantastic. |

I would pay a good amount to go back to 1975 for one week...... just ONE week.

I miss 1978 in everyway... I was on top of the world and taking a road trip across the country when the national speed limit was 55 listening to Foghat fool for the city on 8 track.

Ah, yes. Grad school Texas A&M. White sun dresses and sudden rain showers. Girls wore dresses to class. Girls were wearing pants that were either high waisted and tight or hip hugging tight. Girls were thinner back then. None of that 80s pleated baggy pants and massive shoulder pads.
Hard to believe that nearly 40 years have passed. I'm old. |

1978 was also the release year of Dawn of the Dead, and Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
Two of the best movies that exist. |

Damn, I'd love to have a pinball machine. Kinda pricey View Quote It depends The pre-1977 electro-mechanical pins are practically free because nobody can keep them running The post-1977 solid-state games run from a few hundred all the way up to $10,000 70s solid state pins are very simple and slow-playing, I don't like them. The collectors all want the 1990s Bally-Williams. Those games are the pinnacle of pinball in terms of art and gameplay. The 80s pinballs are less desired but are still great games. A classic 90s pin like Addams Family is going to run you around $5000 to $7000 A classic 80s pin like Williams High Speed is going to be around $1500 The nice thing is that the games don't lose value. I paid $2500 for my Twilight Zone, I could sell it for $6000 easy. So it's hard to go wrong. check this out, a pretty decent price guide - http://www.bostonpinball.biz/ebay0516.htm |

View Quote That may be the most geometrically perfect ass that I've seen since ..... probably 1978. I bet I can find the Golden Mean in that if I looked a bit. |

Reading the pop-up preview, I decided to play a game. How fast can I find the roller skates when I open this thread.
OP told me there were roller skates in the title. I understand roller skates are on the feet. It still took me 2 minutes to find out the roller skates were blue. |
