A 69-year-old man sailing a 110-foot vessel on the East River was arrested Wednesday and hauled off by cops after they discovered a cache of unlicensed weapons in a locked vault under the deck, sources said. Jacob Antwerpen, a car dealer from Annapolis, Md., was heading to Boston with a crew that included his wife and daughter on a boat named “YES” when the Coast Guard stopped him for a safety inspection near the Whitestone Bridge on Wednesday. He admitted he had the guns, prompting a call to the NYPD’s Harbor Unit. Police seized a revolver, rifle and two shotguns from the safe Link |

There are still fucking idiots that think going through New York with any kind of gun is a good idea?
Seriously? Guys, tell your retarded cousins to knock this shit off. Even if you have to go to meemaw's home to tell gammypa |
|
Hopefully the wife and daughter were also hauled off to Ryker's Island for keehauling
|
|
He was clearly a weapon smuggler bringing the guns up from states with weak gun laws.

Low hanging fruit, a lot of boaters pack, who you gonna call for help on the water, not the police.

Obviously a hardened criminal that should be in jail with muderers and rapists. Guns are so evil.
What the fuck is wrong with this country where that happens in ANY state? |

He admitted he had the guns View Quote Never make it easier for them. |

NYC is much safer now. Glad they were able to put this villain behind bars.

But Hillary, who has done far more heinous deeds, walks free. Disgusting.

If he was transporting the firearms through NY, isn't he protected under FOPA?
|

What the hell is a "safety inspection?"
Also, going from Maryland to Massachusetts by way of New York with firearms is a terrible idea no matter how you're traveling. |

15 years ago I thought Hawaii seemed like a different country but the east coast seems that way too now.
|
|
Don't think for a minute, they aren't trying to find a way confiscate that boat too.
|
|
Under FOPA, notwithstanding any state or local law, a person is entitled to transport a firearm from any place where he or she may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he or she may lawfully possess and carry it, if the firearm is unloaded and locked out of reach
GD said no problem. They were in locked container GD said. |

I know I feel much safer tonight because of this.
Americans should rest peacefully knowing that our brave protectors have stopped this terrorist in his tracks. Meanwhile, someone who enabled the slaughter of United States SEALS is running for president. |

Why would he admit he has guns? Why would they even ask him if he had any as part of a safety inspection? If they found them as a result of a safety inspection would they even be able to do anything? It's fruit from the poisoned tree, right?

I for one, as a northern NJ resident and user of the Hudson river, feel safer already.

The story clearly says they were locked up. It did not specify whether, or not he was legal to possess the firearms in his destination. Unless he had a MASS NR-LTC A, at least some (possibly all, depending on other licenses, specific firearms possessed and itinerary) of his firearms/ammunition would have been illegal for him to possess in MASS under any circumstance. |

Antwerpen is a pretty big car dealer chain in the Baltimore/Annapolis area. I'm sure the guy has some bucks to fight in court if need be. Here's a crappy picture of the vessel in question: http://www.ar15.com/media/viewFile.html?i=90712 View Quote NYPD may have just arrested the wrong guy. i bet charges are quietly dropped instead of letting someone who can afford the best lawyers makes a fool of them in court. If he was transporting the firearms through NY, isn't he protected under FOPA? NY doesn't recognize FOPA. Much like Mayor Daley refused to recognize LEOSA. That said, at least CPD didn't take joy in honoring hizonner's opinions as NYPDS apparently does Red Billy et al. |

Do you have and contraband or weapons on the boat?
Why yes sir. I carry protection on board. DUMBASS. Going to cost 15k in legal. Also I think the yacht is an older Berger. |
