heres a little more info on that massacre in ohio.
Violent Rhoden Brothers Met a Violent End in Ohio Massacre Authorities seem to believe the massacre of eight family members was akin to payback. For what, it’s unclear, but two of the dead were not shy about making enemies. PIKETON, Ohio — When Chris and Frankie Rhoden showed up at a demolition derby rival’s home last May, they were ready to fight. The brothers brought more than a dozen friends with them to confront Tommy Gorman Jr.
Chris, 16, and Frankie, 20, refused to leave even after winning what was apparently a one-sided fight, according to Tommy’s mother, Laura. Not only did the Rhoden boys beat down Laura’s son, but they also knocked out some of the teeth of her husband, Tommy Sr. “At least he had false teeth. He was able to superglue them back in,” Tommy’s son, Richard, told The Daily Beast. Frankie was sentenced to less than a year’s probation for the attack, according to his case file at the Pike County Courthouse, about 20 miles from where he and the rest of his family were shot to death last Friday morning. The killer or killers—authorities aren’t sure how many—went on to murder five more Rhodens and Hannah Gilley, Frankie’s fiancée. The three children, presumably too young to identify the perpetrators, were spared. This is the first I heard they were a family of drug dealers.
Kinda takes the mystery out of it. |
|
Sounds like somebody eventually got tired of enough of their shit to finally do something about it, due to the law not doing anything about it.

According to GD, marajuana isn't dangerous so this massacre must have been an isolated incident.

They sounded like shitty human beings with a penchant for drugs, cockfighting, and violence. Hopefully the Rhoden legacy disappears like a fart in the wind.
At least the babies weren't hurt. |

The whole situation is starting to sound more and more like Karma.

View Quote What is the dangerous part, the substance, or the people who participate in the black market for the substance? When one drug dealer rips off another, the guy who got ripped off can't just go to the police and say "That asshole stole my shit without paying me, arrest him!", can they? |

Sounds like they were an all-around shitty family and someone or some group of people finally had enough of them being toxic in the community.
This continues to be a very interesting story as more details come out. |

I went to a school where over 50% of the kids were related to each other. I think the other posters are correct in that this was probably payback for some hick drama. |

Showing once again that the victims of crime are often criminals themselves.
Most underrated self-defense tip: don't be an asshole. |

Dope growers are not the mellow hippy types the looney libertarians would have you believe, is it???

I would not be surprised at all if the officers found a closet with four plants and called it a grow op. So Cleetus gives a clone to his sister so they can have their own, everyone has a plant or two growing under some shitty lights in their basement, etc, so the police go nuts and the media eats it up. |

These people were probably making lots of cash with the weed, and on welfare to boot. While the massacre is horrific, I am having a real hard time working up any sense of loss over it. |

Assholes often smoke marijuana and drink alcohol. The marijuana isn't any more of a cause for their behavior then the alcohol.
Sounds like this incident is not much of a loss to society. Sucks for any relatives only peripherally involved though. Parents raised a couple of violent dirtbags and apparently did nothing about their behavior. It cost them. |

Meh, it does not seem like it was just some plants in the closet. Investigators and prosecutors previously said three of the four murder scenes contained marijuana grow operations of a commercial scale, at least one of them indoors. The marijuana grow operations found were not simply a few random plants in a field somewhere, the Columbus Dispatch reported from an interview with Pike County Prosecutor Rob Junk. He told Dispatch reporters at least one was indoors and there appeared to be several hundreds of plants. |

There'll be a Dateline or some investigative type show on the murders in a few years.
