Why is it that every time someone comes forward and tells arfcom about their use (abuse) of alcohol or drugs to numb whatever emotional pain they are feeling, everyone says the same thing? They suggest finding another way because they have either personally tried that method or watched someone else attempt it, and realize it does not work; does not make anything better. They recognize it as an unhealthy way to suppress negative emotional feelings that that prevents them from feeling the positive ones again. An addiction to emotional suppression; mild, moderate, or severe.
But every time one of our two infamous arfcom members post about their random, impersonal sexual escapades, they are cheered on. Either no one sees what is happening, or no one pipes up. Why? Sexual addiction is no different from a biochemical standpoint than heroin and cocaine use. It feels good, but at what cost? It stimulates the same exact parts of the brain, in the same exact way: "When someone has sex with someone new, and particularly if the sex is on the first meeting before having gotten to know each other, it is going to involve a very different brain chemistry than intimate sexuality. Similar to porn, having sex on the first date will cause a spike in dopamine and testosterone, which is not balanced by oxytocin. This kind of lifestyle can easily become addictive to a man where he feels increasingly more compelled to have sex with every attractive woman he meets. The actor Russell Brand did us all a huge service by being honest about this kind of sexual addiction and how he recovered from it. A lifestyle of easy casual sex will shift the brain chemistry in a way that makes it more difficult and more challenging to have an ongoing and possibly more fulfilling relationship with one person." p. 208 Consious Men Every time this happens, arfcom becomes a very ugly place that in no way reflects the support usually found with alcohol or drug abuse threads. The sex addicts share their story, reliving the high. The community watches, is entertained by, and even engages in the pseudo-euphoric vicarious experience by asking for details. Everyone comes down from the high. Until the next time. Because there is always a next time. One of those members is 26 years old. I refuse to believe arfcom is ok passively encouraging him to lead a life that will prevent him from the true joys of an intimate relationship with one loving woman. We can’t “get both,” they are mutually exclusive. If he spoke about killing a bottle every night, people would jump all over that in a supportive manner. This isn’t a call out to those members. It’s a call out to all of us. Why does no one say a word about this yet everyone supports and respectfully challenges other members on their substance abuse? The person with the addiction is the one missing out. No judgment to the addicts; I seriously want to know why not one person in the whole community says a word. Rant over |

OMG people want to have sex with more than just one person in their entire lives?!?!?

Steering someone in the opposite direction, they feel, is doing right by them. |

You need to look up what a real sex addiction is like.
Hooking up every week or three is NOT sexual addiction. That's just enjoying sex. ETA: People who are actual addicts lead horrible, depressing, consumed lives and it's not about the sex. |

Half of those stories are pure bullshit and never happened.
What is funny how many here act all biblically but when it comes to gays but are very into hetero promiscuity stores. 5 Solas, HyperJoe, etc |

Also, these same guys will talk about women *riding the cock carousel* and throwing their lives away and say just awful things about them. As they strive to be one of the seats on that same carousel.
There's definite mental blocks they have to put up and twisting of reality in order to feel justified in their beliefs. |

My guess is that a solid 2/3 of the sexcapades threads in GD are based in as much reality as most letters to Penthouse. |

Sleep with 100+ partners and get back to us. I have been on both sides of that fence and neither is better than the other. On one hand you start feeling like a man whore and crave intimacy and on the other you are eating the same steak every night, dreaming about a White Castle once in a while.

While it may be thrilling to tap a different piece of ass every night... the risks would just get to me.
I'd rather be with one woman, and feel completely satisfied having sex with only her. And I'd also like to make her feel completely satisfied, too. I'd honestly feel bad if I didn't "do it" for my woman. |

Sexual addiction can also lead to an abnormal compulsion to shout, "SUPPRESSING FIRE!" while shooting wildly.

The betas here(everywhere) can't manage a relationship so to act alpha they put down relationships and act like they are too cool for them. Relationships are tough and can be risky, like I said lots of stories on this site from people, but running and hiding from them pretty much proves a guy is an emasculated beta anyway. I remember when people used to say "man up". Apparently to many that is not a thing any more either. |

This is why I met a loving woman that enjoys sex several times a week
I joked with her that one day we would be able to sleep in to 1000 Have sex and enjoy a shower in our huge 8 shower with duel heads etc. 3 months ago we finaly made it, I was a sex addict per say, as in I like sex everyday Then I found the one woman I enjoy loving and having sex with, and the love Makes the sex better. We just got out of the shower, and are eating cold pizza in bed Some guys just enjoy the chase, and If that's how they want to spend Their life oh well. I wanted a woman that would crawl into bed (sex or not) and just can't keep Her hands of me, and I mean just rubbing my chest etc and fall asleep holding Each other. I know it sounds lame, but I love it and we are having our 18th anniversary this weekend. Now we're off to plant some stuff in the garden, as that is our life now And I love it. I think many are addicted to sex, but the love and caring makes it better. I was that guy that wanted a girl to want to have sex with me as bad as she needed The next breath, and not be a daily choir. My first wife was like this and although we had sex a lot the connection wasn't There. Ok Gotta go work in the garden. |
|
I like sex. A lot. Married right now, but that thrill of the chase was something that I loved.

Those who defend the practice in men make analogies to keys and locks and say it's normal and natural, and that there are no consequences for men. They also condemn women for the behavior, noting them to be worthless sluts and whores and good for a night, but not for a life. It's hypocrisy, and furthermore it is as damaging to a man's prospects at long term happiness with a single person as it is for a woman. These guys are literally being set up for failure.
