Dumb thought of the day,
I was just thinking thinking about it and my state was only a territory in 1863. I have always thought that a "Yankee" is someone from north of the Mason-Dixon line and east of the Mississippi river? If someone were to call me a Yankee I would probably give them a puzzled look and tell them "No I'm from the West" So I guess my question is, are people from west of the rockies, Yankees, soulless heathens, or just another non-southern non-Yankee American? |

There's only four types of peoples:
Southerners Yankees Californians Mormons You fall into Mormon territory. |

I'd say the California border, but don't haven't spent much time in AZ, NM, UT or NV. Lived in Vallejo for ~1 year and San Diego for ~6-8 months.

Do you live in VA, WV, NC, SC, TN, KY, GA, MS, LA, or AL?
No? That is because you are a Yankee. |
|

I would say if you're from Wisconsin and Minnesota you're still a Yankee. Because you're not far enough west to be a Westerner

I lived 2 years in the south and was granted dual-citizenship by the locals there.
And I was the guy to know when leaving work at 6am and everyone's windows were frosted, because I still had my ice scraper from living up here. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Where the cattle outnumber the people and sugar cane is king. |

I looked into it for the first time and it seems that while the war was going on we were pointing our gun toward the King of England. Volunteers had to fill posts abandoned by the Federal Army to secure the border and keep life happening out here.
The Volunteer soldiers who served in Washington did not fight against the Confederacy, but instead garrisoned the few posts in Washington that were not abandoned at the beginning of the war, including San Juan Island which was in a dispute with the British Empire. They also protected communications routes between the western and eastern United States in Oregon and Idaho from the Indians and against the threat of foreign intervention on the Pacific coast by Britain and France that never materialized. Three companies in the newly formed Idaho Territory were engaged in an expedition to clear the area of the Snake Indians who threatened emigrants to the territory in 1863 and 1864. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_in_the_American_Civil_War |

I know many Canadians who refer to anyone from the States as a Yankee. Canada actually has a lot more British influence than French (outside of Quebec), and the British often do the same thing.
