Loaned a G19 and G26 to close friends for a CHL class last Saturday.
Got my guns back today and went to put them back where they belong and found a G19 and a S&W M&P9. Texted them a picture and they said shit, they'll call range tomorrow. I called range and he says other people teach classes there. Call instructor A. I called instructor A. He said he taught 9:30 AM class, not 10:00 AM and didn't have these students. I called borrowers and they said the took class with instructor B, and that instructor B loaned several guns and all people that took the class know each other. I called instructor B and he says his assistant probably collected X guns and that he had loaned several out. He does have an M&P, and he does not loan a G26. Said he was 100% certain he'd find mine when he went to the range in the next two days and he'll bring it to my work. He is local SWAT. Borrowers are/were certified Obamabots, though they did watch the Republican debates this year, and the male is a Fudd. I'm happy they are getting the CHLs, and even considering evil child killing handguns, though I'm not sure they will carry. :) I was worried for a minute... Hope I get my gun back. I have no dog to shoot. |

I learned the hard way long time ago never, never, never loan your firearms to anybody .!!!!!!!
If somebody asks you for a gun tell him to go buy one |
|
I assume TX doesn't have a set # of hours before you have to report it stolen?
|
|
You let someone "borrow" your guns? Ok, tell me how that worked out for ya
|
|
I'll keep saying it....never ever loan your guns, ever.
At what point did you panic a little? Hope it all works out. |
|
|
Well I must be in for a massive rape. I offered to loan a very conservative family member a gun until he can buy a decent CCW gun.

Generally it's people I could call at 2 AM and say I need help. They'd be on their way right after asking if they needed to bring anything. |

That's interesting. I hope you get your gun back but at least you have a substitute.

I am 100% certain they would buy me a replacement if it was indeed lost. I will be sure to report back with the outcome, however. |

Yep. Only way I'd do that would be to a family member in case of emergency, and even then it'd be one of my guns I didn't give a shit if I ever saw again, like my G34. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

You fucked up by loaning someone a gun in the first place. Yep. Only way I'd do that would be to a family member in case of emergency, and even then it'd be one of my guns I didn't give a shit if I ever saw again, like my G34. I'm from Missouri, we might be long lost family. Can I "borrow" your G34? It's an emergency. |

take a pic of the friend holding the item before they leave with it. many people loose friends over not returning stuff. most of the time they forget about the item and that is the end of it. I had a few friends fuss about the pic but they can have their pic taken with the item or simply not borrow it. this gives you proof you loaned it. proof the day the borrowed it. proof of what shape the gun was. also, if you loan out lots of stuff you can forget who you loaned it to and actually loose the item forever! this also helps with the double loaned item. a friend borrowed my paint gun and loaned it to another guy, this guy died, then friend would not ask widoow for paint gun back for me. I wasn't going to ask widow with no proof it was mine to begin with. Take a pic!

So good deal then?! Gave away a Glock and got an M&P back! That's a win right there.

What a fucking mess.
/You can use my guns. In my presence. Becaues I've learned poeple just do not give a shit about taking care of something they 'borrow'. |

1st rule of loaning a gun to anyone, make sure they are not complete fucking morons. After reading I did notice the word OfuckingBama or FBHO so that in itself would have disqualified them from being loaned even a fucking tooth pick.

I have 5 people on this planet that if they asked for a gun I would say yes, and I will get it back when I get it back.
This is why I have lots of guns, if they are true friends they will find your gun. Good Luck |

I only have a few friends that ask me for a gun to borrow to shoot and see if they like it, that I trust. Others I tell to give me the cost of the gun,so in case anything happens, it is now their gun.
|

I wouldn't loan out any of my guns unless it was an emergency situation, I knew that person VERY well, and with the rule in place that nobody else touches the gun. Guns aren't cheap.
When you loaned him that G26 it wasn't for the rest of the class to handle and get mixed in with everyone else's guns or in a box of loaners. |

If I didn't trust them they wouldn't be my friend. If they were forgetful/lazy I know better or have strict terms. Eta not saying I was never burned. My exes dad borrowed my semi auto shotgun back in like 03 and I never got it back when we broke up. Hmmmmm... |

glad you are comfortable right now, mean while I'm having a small serious of panic attacks reading your story lol

This is why I always have a couple Hi-points or Jiminez on hand.
I will gladly loan or gift a gun to someone in serious need but its not going to be an expensive gun. |

"Never loan out what you can't afford to lose."
I heard that somewhere ....maybe here? Idk. But it can apply to more than cash. |
|
OP...did you do a back ground check on them before you gave them the guns?

My G19 is on semi-permanent loan to my dad. Other than that I'm not much on loaning guns.

Sounds to me like the person you loaned them to, owes you a gun.

I let a very select few people shoot my guns while I'll next to them. Fuck loaning them out though.
