Not remotely surprising, IMO.
ETA: In fact, I would expect to see a similar trend if one looked at all deaths from unintentional injuries. |
|
|
|
Why is the term "inequality" used here?
Same roads, same opportunities given by those roads. How they are used is what causes the problem. I bet the "not wearing a seat belt deaths" numbers look exactly the same. |
|
The ones that die because the ignition turned off or the ones where the carpet got on top of the accelerator and they forgot to turn off the engine.

many explanations:
The Stupid and lazy make less money so they own crappier cars The Stupid and lazy often dont know/understand rules of the road The stupid and lazy have less to lose so they often make poor driving choices. Also and this is just age realted and I am not sure they adjusted for that at all: thew younger you are the less likely you are to have higher education Soooo the less liekly u are not have a new car with late safety fearures, the more risky behavior, the more night driving, the more socal driving etc etc So between the socioeconomic and the age angle this is easily explained.... |

This isn't a surprise.
Uneducated people are more likely to die younger, have harmful addictions, not take good care of their health, etc. |
|
We need to mandate more safety features for cars to reduce this statistic ... if we can make cars unaffordable then poorer people won't be dying in car wrecks.
|
|
Uneducated people are 4.3 times moire likely to die in a car crash.
buckle up buckO this is arfcom more is spelled m o a r. |

OP, looking at your thread title, I hope you ain't driving right now.
|
|
Ignorant people make poor life choices? Doesn't matter if it's education, finance, driving...

While the chart purports to show education level I'm sure it is more a depiction of age/maturity level.

Can also be monitored by discipline; if more people with BA's are dying, then require BS degrees for licensing. |

People with no degree or prospect have nothing better to do than get fucked up, ride around and crash huh? Imagine that.

The unfortunate thing is I'd bet they're 4.3 times more likely to kill someone in a car crash as well

More proof that the minimum wage should be raised..
A living wage should be payed to people, thus curing this travesty of social and economical injustice. I say starting wage should be no less then $100 an hour. Why should someone have to toil in laborious ways for anything less then that, it would be detrimental to ones self worth and just plain make them feel bad. |

The willful ignorance in this country deflates muh feels.
Free school (for the students), free libraries (after you get a card), free internet (in places), and educational free TV. "For Christ's sake, help yourselves!" |

Moral of the story is , wait for it , don't catch rides with people with less education than yourself.

Funny how that is almost exactly the spread amongst the population.
High school graduates make up about 80% of the population with those holding a bachelor's or better about 20%. FWIW, I only have a high school diploma. |
|
The 'trends' are interesting too, note that the 'less than HS' trend starts up sharply around 2008 to 2009.

I could see a chunk of that being down to driving more or driving shittier vehicles, but there's gotta be some simple dipshittery in there too.

I thought you really had to work at not graduating high school nowadays.

Just kidding. Yeah, I know. Phones and all. |

Misleading stats.
Young drivers have more accidents especially fatal accidents. If you die at age 17 in a crash, you fall into the 'never graduated from high school' |

Maybe someone else will step up to the plate and waste 30 minutes of their time. Suffice it to say that people will believe anything. All you have to do is put some kind of "chart" in it and call it a "study" or "research." |

RIF Yep, says right on the chart "drivers age 25 and older". But don't worry, he's obviously smart enough to see through all these "BS statistics". |

Smart educated people do stupid things less often than stupid people.
