Nice to see Amarillo Dragway still open and with so many people at it!
Is the guy alright? |

50 second video. 37 seconds of sitting on the line, then it cuts off mid wreck

less than five seconds and thousands down the drain
not a hobby I could handle |

I don't know who daddy dave is, but that's a stupid looking car.

Their 'Safety Safari' consists of dudes in shorts and t-shirts. Lucky no one else was seriously injured.

That is a 60's Chevy II isn't it? Looks like the roll cage did it's job well |
|

Nitrous bottle held in with zipties? Crazy. I always forget how fast drag racers are going until they wreck and then my mind boggles at all the kinetic energy flinging parts around... |

Nitrous bottles flying around inside the car, reportedly seat belt tabs & seat mount broke, front of his helmet was busted by a serious impact. There's even talk that a suspension failure set the whole event in motion. He's damn lucky that the wreck didn't take place at the top end. Hope to see him back up and running soon! |

View Quote I was just thinking that as well, didn't look like it was going that fast till it started rolling through the air. Hope he's OK |

He's actually 1 of the guys I like on the show. Him and that dude that installs garage doors. The rest are massive douches.

Right before the race, the other guy didn't have anything for him

I counted three rolls at least. An E ticket ride for sure. Hope he is Okay.....I've become a street outlaws fan over the years.

Damn, he just finished the car.
Looks like he got out of the groove (What little was there at a no prep) on the right side, and lost it. Off to yellowbullet!!! |

It kind of looked like tire spin on the drivers side coming off the line.....could be wrong though. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

It kind of looked like tire spin on the drivers side coming off the line.....could be wrong though. Fortunately he wasn't going terribly fast when it got loose. If it had happened 900 or 1000 feet out, the results could have been much worse... |

Whoever welded that seat belt tab in needs kicked in the dick. The seat broke off the main hoop also. This is why you don't let some dipshit that can't weld build your cage. Car was unsafe before it even went down the track. The bottle flying away like a bullet was dumb also. I hate to see people get hurt, but stupid games and the prizes to be won.

looks like he lost traction right off the line. that bites. View Quote I never understood the whole "no prep" thing anyway. If I'm gonna make big HP, I damn well want to be able to put it to the ground. If not, then I'll build a milder motor with a controller and time ramp up the juice as track conditions allow. Also, being as $ seems to be basically no issue and it's run what you brung, I'd be looking into some type of traction control. Oh and 1 last thing... get some Goodyears on the damned thing. |

Yard sale near lane! Wish a speedy recovery for Dave.
Interesting talk on the seatbelt attachment points failing. Most cars on the show have funny car cages so I would assume there was some thought in not only the design but the execution. |
