Lately there have been several 1911 threads pop up. In this thread we will discuss why you settled on carrying/shooting a Glock instead of having something better.

While Im sure it will be argued that a Glock is decently priced and goes bang when you want it to, lets look at a few other things in life that do what they are suppose to while also being conveniently priced and making life easy.

Here are a few analogies

You could have had this

Instead you settled with this

While both get you from point A to point B reliably, one is arguably more fun to drive.

While yes it could be argued that one has more upkeep costs and maintenance, atleast you will get laid.

You could have had this

Instead you settled with this

While both will get the job done in the sack, isn't one more desirable than the other? Sure there may be more upkeep costs for the better choice, but isn't the end result worth it?

Discuss why some gave up on life and settled with Glock.

I already know you are wondering why everyone doesn't have a $3000 Springfield Professional like you. I'd rather buy a $500 gun that holds twice as many rounds, needs less maintenance, as weighs less.

I buy what works for me without caring a whole lot about the cost.  I CCW a Glock but just bought an Accuracy International for my only bolt action rifle.

Also, 1911's just aren't that useful to me as they are all heavy, large, expensive, and have relatively low capacity while offering no advantages over many of the other handguns on the market today.  I still own a 1911 but it is more of a novelty than anything as there are just better guns available today to stake your life on whether it be a Glock, S&W, Ruger, HK, etc. in my opinion.

Nearly 6000+ rounds though my G19 in two years, never an issue or malfunction expect a bad primer.... Paid $450 cash brand new for it..... How did I go wrong again?? I love M&P's as well but always grab the Glock for serious work!

Ease of training new shooters.
I don't have the patience to train on more complex weapons.
Everyone in my office that wants to train and get a CCW permit gets a Glock as a bonus so I like having the same.

I carried a 1911 until 1988 when I bought a Glock 17 because of the capacity. I carried the Glock 17 until 1991 when I bought a Glock 21 because I preferred the .45acp and it was high capacity. I carried the Glock 21 until I retired in 2012. I had close to 15K rounds through the 21 and it never had a malfunction. I finally cleaned it in 2013.

Here is the test. Bad guys are beating down the door, there is a whatever brand new 1911 loaded on the table right next to a brand new loaded Glock. The door is splintering, you can only choose one. Which one do you grab?

Funny thread but I used to own a bunch of 1911's and most of them were not as reliable as my G19.
so I got rid of all my handguns I didn't trust (all my 1911s) and kept my glocks. i havemt looked back yet
