I actually agree....not metal, not punk, just good music. I have a ton of respect for David Groll (sp?) as a musician, and he genuinely seems like a decent person. Fan here.

Grohl is an excellent musician and makes some excellent tunes. Sonic Highways was a very good show, too - check it out. In it he seems to be the way I'd be if I was a musician: Wanting to create something new, but a student of history and always learning more about what and who went before me. Heck, as a designer that's how I am.

They certainly didn't start out mainstream, they were an alternative band that got popular and their sound adjusted.
I like most of their music, and Grohl seems like a mensch, dunno if I'd say they're the best but they're in the conversation. |

I think "The Colour and the Shape" and "There is Nothing Left to Lose" are two of the best rock albums ever made. I'm less of a fan of anything after that, it seems like Dave doesn't know how to properly finish a song anymore.. it just devolves into a lot of hoarse screaming, then end scene. |

I saw the Foo Fighters play a few times and they have a lot of energy.But the second time I saw them He stopped the concert for about 30 mins to cry about a guy smoking a joint in the crowd.

Sad this type of music is viewed as "rock" these days. It's pop infused with just enough rock to get playtime on both pop and rock radio stations. Zero originality. It's nothing more than cookie-cutter "please play my song on the radio" music. |
