I've read several places online that they are the best bang for the buck PCC you can get.   Ugly but functional.  Anyone here have or had one that can give a yay or nay to a purchase?

My neighbor has a 40 that they've used to kill quite a few deer.

I wouldn't mind to have one in 10mm, although I don't know if I would want to shoot a 10mm HiPoint.  Failing that, I've been eyeballing a 45.

I have had the older style 995 for 10years or so now.

It has been reliable and accurate and fun to shoot. It is a pain to strip down for cleaning, but that is not very often. It is limited by single stack mags, and a funky shaped stock that directs recoil into my cheek bones.

I need to send mine in.  I think I got one of the few carbines that doesn't work well.  It sits in a safe.  Because it fills no nesasary role for me I have yet to get off my ass and do it.  Fun to shoot in between jams I guess.  Mag capacity sucks.

The TS models aren't your ape guns. They're not exactly what I'd call futuristic like the Beretta CX models either, but they function great. Some people have put the ATI stocks on them, but Hi Point won't warranty them if you do.

I've owned a TS 9mm for around 6-7 yrs now and it does good. Killed possums and coons with it.

I want to get one.

Cheap, reliable plinking gun.

Ugly as sin, but I carry a Glock most days, so I don't care about pretty guns.

Also a good place to stick the barska scope/flashlight, tapco grip and other crap you're too ashamed to a fix to an actual firearm.

Yep.

I got mine as payment for a $100 debt.
Thousands of rounds through it without any problems.
IIRC, last time I took it down to clean was in the the early 2000s sometime.
Only have run a boresnake through it since.

And honestly, I've gotten better groups with it than my beloved Ruger PC9.
Only real con against (not counting fuglyness) is the lack of reliable >10rd mags.

+1 on all accounts, except for the cleaning, I've never cleaned mine and it's never failed me. Best $129 ever spent.

Love mine, I have the .45. It's my wife's go to Home defense weapon. And it's not like she has few choices. But it's the only thing that she is comfortable with. And after years of flawless operation, great accuracy, and 9 Critical Defense's in the mag have no problem with it being employed for home defense.

I personally prefer the Saiga12, or KSG for that job. But to each their own.

I like that.

I've had my 995 over 10 years.  Got it used at a gun show for $95.  Got it home and noticed the stock was cracked.  Called Hi-Point the following Monday and they sent me a new stock.

When ATI was making their stock, I was one of the first ones to get one.  It looked cool, but it actually made the mag release harder to reach - which is hard enough anyway.

I put the new TS Stock on it and it is a lot better.  I think the springs in the buttstock are knid of goofy, but I like it.

I have the 995TS, and it's the most accurate gun I have.  Shooting at home defense distances (10-15 yards) my other guns usually get groups within 4" or 5", but the Hi-Point always seems to leave these raggedy-ass holes (using the stock peep sight).  Also can't beat the price - about $0.20 per round for 9mm reloads.

Love mine, it's the TS4595. You better have thick skin if you get one, though. I catch crap from everyone I shoot with when I pull the HiPoint out.

It's ugly, looks cheap, has a funky looking stock, and I don't like the trigger or the limited mag capacity, but that's about it. It's reliable, accurate and fun as hell to shoot.

I ditched the OEM sights in favor of some MBUS Pros and replaced the OEM plastic top rail with an aluminum one and tossed an inexpensive TRS25 optic on it. Everything works great.

For as bad as the C9 I tried. My Uncles old style 9mm, and the new "TS" style .40 run great. Not saying go out and buy one. But being nerdy I would like to know why all the Carbines seem to run with so little TLC, while the pistols take lot of redneck engineering to fire properly.

I almost bought one back in the late 90's for $120, but couldn't get over the fugly-ness.

Plus, since it used a proprietary mag I just said no.

I have a mess of guns. All sorts of pistol caliber carbines. But no .40SW carbines. So I bought a HiPoint  4095. More comfortable and accurate than I thought and a complete hoot to shoot.

It exploded out of battery when brand new. HiPoint fixed it and gave me some free magazines. Plus I bought some 15 round magazines. Need more .40SW ammo suddenly.

Mine has proven to be just as reliable and even more accurate than my higher quality Ruger PC9, which set me back $400 way back in the day. Just because it looks cheap doesn't mean it is.

Bingo. You basically have to destroy the factory stock to get them installed (for the TS that is). I did it when I had mine and it made it feel 100x better. If you can still find one and you've got a 995, it's worth it
