None of them will work as a shank As the would not penetrate even the long one when held with the finger grove would only go in half an inch. |

Tough crowd tonight.
I like them Op! I have an old, broken file laying around, I may borrow your idea! |

I kinda dig it. I don't want all my blades the same. Very interesting work, op. I like the idea of a small box opener.

Better work than I could do.
I have no practice making knives, so I can't criticize to much. Keep practicing would be all I'd say. Everyone starts somewhere. If you were selling the little box cutter ones at a gun show for like $5, I'd probably buy one or two. |

File Knives are common around here.
Old Dutch and Kraut farmers, are tighter than the bark on a tree. Untold thousands of deer, Hogs, Fish, and cattle, get processed with re-purposed Files and Band saw blades. Everybody has at least one or two old file knives somewhere. Am also a big fan of Anza kinves from waaaay back. Ya did pretty good from what I can tell. If it works, it works. Don't give a shit what anyone else might think. You're the only one using the things. The only thing I have an issue with on file knives, is sharpening. Unless they are annealed downward a couple points, they can be a bastard(Get it) to get an edge back on. Keep at it. |

Yeah...but time and material are expensive Material isn't expensive. You can get 1095 from Admiral steel and be under $2.50 a knife blank. Figure one belt or so per knife. It can be expensive as all hell, but it doesn't have to be. |

It forced me to get proficient and not make errors since it can be $30 bucks an inch. Take your time and improvements will come. |
