So my wife works part time at a family dollar down the road for extra cash for about 6 months or so.
She has been passed up for assistant manager twice now and the latest excuse is becuase she is a .mil spouse.
I told her to drop her 2 weeks and split she doesn't need that drama in her life.
Any advice from the hive?

It's usually a good idea to have another job lined up before bailing from current employment. If the money doesn't matter, it's not that big a deal.
I presume it's because they figure that after they make an investment in her for training & so forth you could get orders and they'd have to start over.
So what. They could train someone else and they get run over by a car. There are no guarantees in life or in business.

They came right out and said it? Wow, gotta give them credit for telling the truth. Get used to it, tons of places won't promote .mil spouses to any kind of management position. Constantly looming possibility of a PCS is a career killer.

Military spouse ? You might want to ask a lawyer about that excuse. Otherwise she should look for another job. Give her 2 weeks if you can afford it and start looking now.

I did think it was a tad contradictory.

I would not spend a dime at somewhere that has a thing against the military, much less be employed by them.

Because she is a mil wife.... why would she ever even need to tell them that. Tell her to start going to school and work at getting a degree it will be more valuable in the long run.

What's the pay rate compared to what she makes now? Is it worth the hassle?
I've seen some of those managers get their asses worked off for not much more scratch.
