"Funded by Christian groups from abroad, mainly from the United States, the Nineveh Plains Protection Unit (NPU) aims to bring a local Christian militia to bear against the Islamic State group that has seized swathes of Iraq and Syria."

Private Crusades.
Maybe they can 'contract' Blackwater/XE or Haliburton...

Alternatively,  try to re-install   the Bush/Cheney regime at next election, and get all of NATO in on the games.

Erik Prince, the former CEO of Blackwater could organize a private military corporation more than capable of subduing ISIS and Syria and return the world to an orderly stable position within a year.

Why rely on nation states anymore? Sure there are UN rules against mercenaries, but they have no teeth.  Private interests could easily take the middle east.

I doubt he ever wants to deal with that shit again.  It got way to messy in the end.  Can't blame him for taking his fortune and bailing to Abu Dhabi (or Dubai.. don't remember).

Wait we're going with Naval rank? I don't think ISIS even has watercraft, or do letters of marque apply to land raids as well?

How soon before collections start in US Christian organizations?

Like K of C or Elks?
Maybe even churches?

Back in the late 70s early 80s I used to go to bars in Boston that had jars on the bar filled with cash and Sinn Fein written on them. You know where money went.

No morale equivalent attempt here, but it can be done.

If it results in a single dead ISIL with no collateral, then I support it.

And it is not because I fear them.  On the contrary, they just look so much happier dead.  And I am a man who enjoys spreading happiness.  One Hellfire at a time.

I wish I could find 72 virgins to service me for an eternity for about $70k.  For those of you bad at math, that's less than a grand per virgin!  Even Thailand doesn't run this kind of bargain on this scale.

I don't think that would fly now with all the international banking regulations. I don't see our .gov looking very friendly on sending money to the middle east to arm people. Only they get to decide who to arm

Strictly speaking, they're a ship/ocean thing.  But there hasn't been any issued in this country since the war of 1812.

If congress has the enumerated power to both raise armies and hire privateers, I can see very easily where it could be construed as both necessary and proper that a Letter of Marque and Reprisal be extended to private land-based military companies.

A real Patriot in the classic sense who was literally chased out of his country.

How many insanely rich guys become Navy SEALs and then use their wealth and intelligence to serve their nation even after he's out of the military?

What happened to him is a tragedy, but I know he still has those Patriotic feelings and despite perhaps his better instincts would answer his country's call if needed again.

Let me just say "fuck the UN." What are they going to do? The US hasn't made them illegal and a US Federal Court has already said the Pinkerton Act doesn't apply for them. Mercs, in terms of US law, are good-to-go.

Why did Iraq Fail?

Why did Afghanistan Fail?

Why did Vietnam Fail?

You can't nation build as a democracy. You can invade and occupy for a limited time, but you can't stay when you're dependent on popular opinion manipulated by a liberal press.

The answer is simple. Invade Syria, kick ass, raise the American flag over Damascus and then hand it to a PMC to administer like Blackwater.

Why can't a private corporation be given he responsibility of bringing a country to a position where it has the building blocks to form a proper democracy? Why is a private corporation, especially if it is publicly traded, be worse than a nation state or a dictator?

For the same reason your younger sibling failed.... we pulled out too early.

Germany and Japan were strong nations.  We destroyed the ever loving shit out of them.  And then sat on their territory for the next 100 years as we helped shape them in to countries ruled by law.

Please don't believe that I am thinking that 1945 Germany or Japan are the same as 2015 Iraq/Afghanistan.  Quite the contrary.  If it takes 100+ years of 'occupation' for a people who wish to support themselves to flourish, it is going to take at least that for a country full of dependent assclowns focusing on Sectarianism.

Also, instead of destroying Iraq's will to fight, we destroyed Iraq's despotic government and placed the reigns in the hands of self-aggrandizing, revenge-seeking religious majority.  And history has dictated time and again how this was to be played out.

If we are so vain to believe that this time will be any different then we deserve to fail, as a nation, even if a certain minority knows the truth and argues against the popular sentiment.  Toss a healthy dose of progressive socialism on to the home front and you have the recipe for destruction.  Just push the button with our next election and doom your children to the fate we have selected for them.

I am far from a doom and gloomer, but it is time to wake the fuck up people.  The US Constitution is the supreme law of the land.  If we forget this, we forget the principles our nation was founded upon.

Sure, alll of nature works on cycle;, let's just end ours on an upswing instead of a downswing.

Have the rules changed,,? No US Citizen may carry Arms on behalf of or wage armed conflict in, supply arms to..another country without license from the State Dept. Clear ITAR violation, among I believe several more. PMC's are as fucking grey as it gets ! I would love to see the documentation Blackwater or any other PMC  has for authorization ?
For a few yahoos to band up and do it on their own is asking for Uncle Sam to drop the hammer.
The problem is the powers that be will let it go until it no longer fits the narrative they have in mind. Then say. We had no idea that was going on and go after everyone involved.

Congrats.  How about if we feed you and pay you at most 75% of what you currently make?  Also, the food is repetitive and kind of sucks after the first couple of months.  And the hours... well, let's just say you get paid yearly.

If principle doesn't fulfill the remaining 25+%, then thanks, but no thanks brother

For example, I am taking a 40% paycut to have the opportunity to help kill these fucks.  Many others see something similar or worse.

But most (of those who are actually putting themselves directly in harm's way) never came up with a tag line; many merely stuck their asses in out there time and again for a belief in what made our country the greatest nation in the world.  Expensives non-inclusive.

But yeah, both are basically the same now that I think about it...

Keep looking for royalties on those t-shirts bro.  Gotta love those "Give me X and I'll do what is right" kind of people.

Here's a fucking hint.... X never comes.  Do what is right regardless.
