ETA: Let's do an astronomy/astrophysics thread. |

That's amazing. It looks like the potential for about seven planets.

Don't be fooled, I'm not an actual astronomer. Just an armchair one, hence the avatar. ETA::Its pictures like this that shows up how we can know allot about the history of a solar system without having to witness the history of a single solar system. Think of it for example if aliens could take a picture of every person on earth at one and only one instant in time. They wouldn't know everything, but they could figure out allot about human behavior and life cycles. |

I wonder if they can't see one smaller than that. |

My 8 year old daughter just asked me if there is a planet with dragons...
I showed her the Andromada image and let her see for herself that by the numbers... There most likely is a dragon planet... She is super excited... |

Since what we see is light years old history, how much warning do we get when our universe has some final ending?
Light seems to lie to us, not telling us what's now - it tells us what was. Just thinking out loud, actually thought of this last week - but it took this long to get posted. |

Any universe ending event or phase shift (has happens before) happens at the speed of light.. Can't see it coming until its too late. |

I didn't realize that the latest adaptive optics etc. were that good.
Pretty impressive, and very mind blowing also. |

There's room enough for anything in the Universe, which means that there's room enough for everything. |

Problem is, we just don't have much to say about it beyond "cool" or "interesting". 1) Threads about serious breaking news stories (even better if they have live feeds and press conferences) 2) Threads where people argue. 3) Threads that people can post their own stories, pictures, links, videos, or experiences. Beyond that, specially for smaller news stories that don't involve controversy, you get a couple pages and the thread dies. Its the way of the internet. |

So, that would also mean there's planets that are exclusively gay/tranny also? (Sorry, it is still GD, after all.) |

Awesome photo. Seriously awesome.
As someone else said, I didn't even realize we had photos like this yet. Thank you for sharing. |

The tranny threads are where all the cool kids post. It's hard to comprehend that your life is so insignificant when you start talking about the universe and what lies in it. |

Will be fun to see how it turns out over the next few billion years.

It's astounding how much progress we've made in astronomy and physics in the last couple decades. When I was in college we still didn't have any direct evidence of exoplanets at all and now we've got pictures like this. |
