So im thinking of buying an AK or an AR15 and wasnt sure which was more suitable for plinking and reliability. Thanks for any advice

OP, I'll give you a straight answer.  You can walk into WalMart and buy a Colt AR15 for like $850.  Why people insist on jerking around instead of just doing that, I don't understand.

Not a bad choice for plinking. About $2500 for the FNC and another $3k for the sear. A bit pricier than a MAC, but happy switch fun in rifle caliber for the price of a used Camry nonetheless.
