I might be the whitest sumbitch in this zip code, but that doesn't mean I want something with ground beef, shredded cheese, and damn flour tortillas.
Horchata, pollo en mole, and maize tortillas, por favor. |
|
Get both.
Outside of crunchy tacos, I really don't care for corn tortillas. Good flour ones are much better. |
|
Flour tortillas are a lot better than corn ones, and Mexican make those too. They are best home made.

I fried some corn tortillas for lunch today. Didn't realize there was such a controversy.

We have good flour tortillas here, and I've had them plenty in Mexico.
There's nothing inherently "white" about flour tortillas. |

Little flour tortillas would be a lot better with tacos, corn is just more traditional.
If you've never had a home made flour tortilla, you are missing out. |

Which side of the state you on, OP? I hit up the taco trucks in NE KC on the regular and they always serve the authentic tacos in corn torillas. Sounds like you might be going somewhere that serves "made-for-gringos" Mexican food, aka Tex Mex.

Corn cost them more to make, flour not so much. You have your answer.

Real authentic tacos are corn tortillas, usually doubled up. At least that's what my Mexican BIL makes.

I'm going to go ahead and throw this out there.....
Corn tortillas are for women, harina (flour) is for men. |
|
Soft corn tortillas are too frail. They taste better but fall apart too easily for robust eating.
Now put corn tortilla inside flour tortilla works ok |

You haven't seen fail until you've had a restaurant serve enchiladas made with flour tortillas.
I asked for the manager and asked if it was a mistake. He couldn't even understand my question. That's how they made them. This was in Atlanta, GA btw. |

Oh FFS is this going to be the new arfcom "beans or no beans" argument?

Bullshit again, I used to take deliveries into vegetable processing plants where the workers are all Mexican. They are dirt poor, and almost all use corn. A package of 50 is like 2 bucks, lol. Mexicans didn't even have wheat flour until the Spaniards brought it there. It was 100% corn before that. |

Missouri sounds weird. I'm nowhere near MO. I was in California yesterday. Today, I'm in AZ headed for TX. Whereabouts? STOP AT A BLAKES IN ALBUQUERQUE OR LAS CRUCES AND GET A GREEN CHILE CHEESEBURGER!!! |

That's because they are not Mexicans. My local Mexican joint is mostly staffed by central Americans of questionable legal status. They are nice people though.
