I once sat at a bar with someone from just up from Mehico. He asked me if I knew why most Mexicans drank Budweiser and never drank Corona. He said his cousin worked at the Corona plant and explained the reason most Mexican beers have a strong gold color and had a different taste from batch to batch. I just smiled. I drink American beer.

There used to be a Mexican beer named "Brisa" that was pretty good.

Pacifico is nice too.

If I absolutely had to indulge in MEX brew, as if to avoid humiliating a gracious host, make it a negra modelo I suppose to spare the torture of other selections. Other than that...not happening. Japanese and Mexican beer ties for being entirely unpalatable in my book.

Why would you drink Mexican beer if you don't have too? There are a lot better choices out there.
I.m four deep into a sixer of Sol , while not a bad beer, I am looking foward to my next trip north.

Tried them all, hate most.

That said, Corona if im thirsty or if im eating legit mexican food and a margarita isn't available. However, lately, they've tasted really.. soapy

I like coronas for the fact that they're bitter tasting. They leave you asking for more. Its hard to explain, but its kind of like drinking Pilsner Urquell on a hot afternoon when you're thirsty as hell. The bitterness almost leaves you with a dry mouth, making you want more.

Yep....Again this topic comes up. Most brands are derived from classic European stles, (mostly German.) Pilsners and lagers pretty much dominate the spectrum but none of them are real winners for the styles they represent. I try to stay away from adjunct beers as much as possible.

Never had Russian beer I take it?

Tequila is fine in its own right so unless I'm in a Mexican restaurant I'll stick to non Mexican beers.
