Did you guys see this?
http://www.shellbacktactical.com/black-plate-carrier-with-side-pockets-50-dollars.aspx One size fits all plate carrier Hold 10X12 shooter cut/standard cut plates Bottom load design Molle webbing attachment system 1000 Denier Cordura Adjustable shoulders straps Removable shoulder pads Comes with adjustable/removable 6X8 side plate pockets ( Included) Durable drag handle Adjustable outer cummerbund Front/Back hook and loop webbing for ID placard attachment. A 1000D, US made plate carrier for $49? It's not quite the Banshee, and it's only available in black but maybe not a bad deal for a bedside/HD rig? These used to be $70 but came down to $49 for Black Friday. My understanding is the current Banshee is only 500D (I thought they used to have 1000D models but I don't see them on the site anymore). Thoughts? |

Yah, I'm surprised there isn't more chatter about these. Not even anyone posting to tell me how mall ninja-ish these are... and how they got a waaay better deal elsewhere.
lol... you feeling okay, GD?? |
Meh, I'd give it a shot if I was in the market, but I already bought a coyote PC w/plates, etc.
I don't exactly need one of these but I might fo at that price.
Do these take a standard size plate? I'm a complete neophyte when it comes to body armor. |
says 10x12 so that would be a standard large plate iirc.
i wonder exactly how big one size fits all is. i am think for the suadis it may not be that big |

And not only that, it seems to come with the side plate pockets which are usually sold separately. Side plate usually come in 6x6 or 6x8. I'm impressed that this comes with the larger pockets for the 6x8. |

this isn't made by shellback they are built by defend-x. can't find much info on them. there is a guy on ebay selling them for 160 and his pics are better. looks very well made. can't find any sizing info on them anywhere.

I foed.
We wear black at work so its depending on the sizing it might be awesome. |
I picked up two - figure they have to be at least as well made as the other cheap carriers, and probably better.
Don't care for the color, but at that price, and Shellback quality I couldn't pass it up for $50.
In. Next question, where do I get an affordable but decent level III plate set?

I purchased several of these for family members for Christmas, they arrived Monday. I am in no way a plate carrier expert, but in my opinion these are worth way more than $50. The whole thing feels very durable and heavy duty, it's very adjustable. Other than it being black, its a solid plate carrier and probably much more well made than some of the cheap brands, which also cost at least $50.
If you are on the fence I would just FO. At the very worst, you hate it, and could easily sell this on ebay for more than $50 to someone. I will try to take some pics when I get home from work if anyone is interested, or if you have any questions leave them here. |

How's the sizing? I'm 5' 9" 165lbs will this thing fit right?

oddly the ar500 plates are actually about a pound lighter and better than 1/2 as much cost wise. <according to the posted specs> the dsg are steel/titanium. |
