I think Lonesome Dove is one of the very few things that most of Arfcom agrees on.
Yes, it is worth watching.

Even if someone says it sucks, they are just trying to be the cool kid that has a different opinion.
They actually love it.

Got a little treatment for OP if he tries to run away.....I cut a little hole in his stomach, pull out a gut and tie it to a tree then drag him 20-30 feet and tie him down. That way I can watch what the coyotes are having for supper.

Usually, if I like a book, I'm disappointed in the movie, and vice versa. In the case of Lonesome Dove, I loved both.

This is another one of those shows that someone's opinion of it would help shape my opinion of them.

I did a thread on this topic a while back after one of the dads in the troop professed his disdain for Jeremiah Johnson.

Someone who doesn't like LD, I probably wouldn't care to hang out with because our world view and common interests are likely very far apart.

Worth a watch, but overrated, IMHO.

People kept going on and on about how great a movie (or mini-series) it was so I finally devoted 7 hours to watch it and when I was done I was pretty disappointed. It wasn't that it was bad. It was that it was extremely over-hyped. If I had never heard anything about it going in I probably would have liked it more because my expectations wouldn't have been as high.

Again: IMHO.
