Anyone else remember getting US Cav catalogs back in the day and pouring over them looking at gear? Cold Steel, ALICE gear, sabers, BDUs, repro Civil War percussion guns, red gooseneck flashlights?
It was the precursor to the web and places like Arfcom..... |

Oh hell yes. I loved those things, and Brigade Quartermaster.

The old catalogs were nice but the online customer service sucks badly.
I have been jerked around since July 5th by these people. I don't recommend. |

I remember them too. Mom would tell me every year to take a look to see what I wanted. Years later at Knob Creek, I made it a point to thank the owner for all his company did for me.

Very much so.
I remember the one with the cover of the survival knife that was all steel and aluminum and the hand guard had rear facing spikes. I was young and thought, "That will be mine some day and I am going to use it as a grappling hook!" Very fond memories of those catalogs. |

Yep, we'd go by there and Ranger Joe's whenever we went to the Infantry Museum at Benning
|
|
Yep. I still have and use a pair of Danner boots I got from one of those catalogs back in 1991.

Quoted: yep, and the Brigade Quartermasters catalogs http://www.brigadeqm.com/ http://www.brigadeqm.com/ View Quote Wow... No more Kennesaw? Wild. I stopped in at their store a few times while I was driving a truck(would have been 2005-2007 time frame, and I found an online order in my email archives from 2003). It was about the ONLY thing I liked about being sent to the Atlanta area US Cav was always insanely overpriced, but the catalog was fun to go through. |

Went in U.S. Cavalry a few years ago when we went to Knobb Creek M.G. shoot. They had all the old catalogs framed on the wall from the late 80's and early 90's. I remembered having almost all of them.

I remember drooling over US Cavaly, Brigade Quartermaster and Ranger Joe's catalogs while wasting away inside the supply cage of my unit back in the early 90s. Those were the days; drinking coffe, shooting the bull and waiting for the time to roll into the field on a hot, sweaty, balmy Georgia summer with the 24th ID.

Lol,
Brigade Quartermasters was great! But someone else proceeded them all.... Parrallax Who here is old enough to remember them?

They're not that old, the one that I remember seeing whenever I grab a towel has a P-47 on the cover. Plus, I have never posted a pic online. |

I remember them offering the Zodiac inflatable rafts that were similar to what Chuck Norris used in Missing In Action. I also really wanted a grappling hook, and then years later when I got a couple grappling hooks I didn't have a real use for them.

Hell yeah! I remember carrying mine around til they were falling apart.
Learned all about all kinds of stuff I never needed to know. Ordered a bunch of stuff too. lol |

Stopped by the US Cav store near Ft Campbell back in 92 or 93. Ordered my non issue ckass B wolly pully from BQM.

As a youngster, yes. I convinced my parents to stop at the store when we were driving through Kentucky. I bought some shit. Including a knife which I later sold to my paper route manager, because I realized it was kinda shitty and wanted something better.
|
|
Yep. Drooled like crazy during the late 80's in high school. Visiting the store outside Ft Knox in the fall of 1990 was the highlight of my first weekend pass in Basic.

Really cool stuff for the day, but we couldn't afford most of it at the time but we did add to our gear what we could afford. You young guys have it made for cheap and light weight bug out gear. Humping out WWII, Korean and "modern" Vietnam gear back in the day was a chore. At least we didn't have to deal with cast iron pans and buffalo hides. |
